robert terni
Report: Jags expect MJD back soon Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, JAC News: According to Florida Times-Union NFL beat writer Vito Stellino, the Jaguars "seem convinced" holdout Maurice Jones-Drew will show up this weekend. In the wake of the Jaguars' cuts down to 53 players, Stellino noted on Twitter that the team kept four running backs even with MJD figuring to be in their long-range plans for the season. Jones-Drew does not count against the Jaguars' roster as he stays away from the team because of a contract dispute. He has missed all of training camp and the preseason and has already lost the opportunity to start Week 1 at Minnesota. Rashad Jennings will be the Jaguars' primary ball carrier while MJD is away from the team. Analysis: The sooner Jones-Drew shows up, the sooner he can get his mind and body ready to play and contribute to the team and Fantasy owners' lineups. If the Jaguars' hunch is true, Jones-Drew sets up to be a pretty good Draft Day bargain with a pick between 20th and 35th overall in drafts. If you do draft MJD then, picking up Rashad Jennings with a pick as early as Round 7 is advised if only to insure your investment, especially since there's no definitive word on Jones-Drew's return. They must be communicating with MJD if their assuming this..GREAT NEWS

Big John
ESPN is saying MJD is reporting today.
ABearWithFurniture
I hope he picked up Rashad Jennings as his back-up in the Sirius Celebrity League...
DMD
What was that holdout for? So he could miss camp? He has a million in fines outstanding though have to think JAC at least waives that. But he's lost on all counts - no more money, no more respect, did not learn the offense, just nothing accomplished. Like a kid who runs away and just goes back to his room without saying anything. What is his incentive to play hard this year? Just a strange one all around.
bostonsoxandy
I'm with you DMD I can't believe he caved now. I thought MJD was accomplished enough and professional enough at this point in his career where he could really set a precedent for future players by this holdout -- where he doesn't care about accruing years towards FA or whatever, he just wants a fair contract for the work he has put in. Can't believe he caved.
Ditkaless Wonders
The perfect execution of a well thought out plan. I is a pretty fair example of why R.B.'s are paid to run, not think.
stethant
When he gets "injured" in week 1 or 2, then his plan might be a little clearer. Edited September 2, 2012 by stethant

Tboogs
Yeah whats ironic is that Jennings had the same agent (Bakari) and dumped his a**! lol! I have a sneaky feeling that MJD might "dog" it this season. watch out for that prolonged "pull" "tweak"...to get back at that batman villian looking owner (Khan) and still preserve his paper! watch... ABearWithFurniture
'Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey says he was impressed by Maurice Jones-Drew's physical condition after he reported Sunday, and the team will work to get him involved in the offense as soon as possible.' ~ Rotowire/Aaron Wilson How soon is ASAP? Game 1? This throws a monkey into the Rashad wrench...
CaptainHook
Why would the Jaguars waive the fines? Wouldn't that encourage other players to skip training camp and the preseason?
Scorcher
Why would the Jaguars waive the fines? Wouldn't that encourage other players to skip training camp and the preseason? Maybe to take the sting out of no new contract, and allow him to save some sort of face?
BeeR
Yeah I didn't get the "probably waive the fines" bit either. To kiss his ass I mean "encourage him to play hard?"

stevegrab
MJD hasn't earned a new contract? http://nachodonut.fi...one-biggums.jpg No he hasn't. You (along with MJD and his agent) appear to be the only one that thinks he does. He wanted more money, thought he deserved more money, held out of camp (losing money in fines) and now had to cave in and report when he finally realized that nobody else thought he deserved a new contract. EPIC FAIL! He's no champion for underpaid players, but did provide a blue print to others on how NOT to hold out.
