GeorgeSteele
Being a football fanatic from outside Baltimore I hope they give Mr Modell a huge tribute tonight. He did so much for the league and rescued an organization by getting them out of Cleveland. I know Browns fans might not agree but then again their idiots. stevegrab
I wonder, were the Baltimore Colts fans idiots too? Modell did do a lot for football, and a lot for the Browns, and the city of Cleveland. Too bad he threw a bunch of that away for a pile of cash to rescue his bad business decisions. I think some in Cleveland have forgiven or forgotten, but most have not. I wished no ill will on him, and am not rejoicing in his death. But no way in hell I want to contribute to honoring him either. I know on Sunday the NFL had asked all teams to have a moment of silence for Modell. In Cleveland there was a lot of concern about that, and that it could be a problem. The family saw that as well, and Art's son David contacted the team (this was info on the local news coming from Holmgren) and asked them NOT to have a moment of silence. I think we can all figure how that would have went, and it wouldn't look good for Cleveland or the Modells.

If there was a "moment of silence" for Art Modell in Cleveland, the fans would boo, curse and start throwing beer bottles. He was also a trader. He betrayed a city and that city will never forgive him for that. Look at Jose Mesa, 10 years after he lost us a world series he comes back to Cleveland and gets booed. I've heard talk that Modell should be a part of the Football Hall of Fame. I have a feeling that if they did make a exhibit for him it would be vandalized. Canton is only a 2 hour drive from Cleveland. I'm sure some of the Dawg Pound will make the trip to make sure how we remember Art.

stevegrab
A few points osu1322, If you live in Akron you should know its only about an hour from Cleveland to Canton (each is about a half hour from Akron), not 2 hours. loaf, Exactly, I had tickets for years and many people (including myself) were pretty well lit at the games. Same all around the NFL. If there was a moment of silence there would certainly be some people booing. GeorgeSteele Where dis osu1322 say he was a member of the Indians. He said US, as in we the fans. Besided even if he had said "we" when referring to the team, I'm sure you've heard fans do this many times before, and its really no big deal. That means the fan feel that the team belongs to them, and in many ways they do.

They move from time to time, usually for greener pastures. Get over it.
