MNF - Broncos @ Falcons

delusions of grandeur

Alright donkey fans, almost time for the Monday night showdown with 2 of the most impressive passing games in week 1... This of course means it should end up a 14-10 game.

Seriously, Manning is going to pick this Falcons D apart, especially after losing Grimes, but I'm not sure there's a defense that can stop this Falcons passing attack either, as long as the pass-protection is good. Blitzing is futile against Manning, but that's exactly what the Broncos will need to do to stop the Falcons passing attack...

Gonna be tough to get much done today. GO FALCONS!!

As a lifetime Denver fan (Elway started it), but a lifetime Atlanta resident, I'm so freakin' excited about this game. Will be sitting ringside with my two youngsters for the show tonight and can't wait!!

I'm just thrilled that its not Tebow vs Turner a la last season. Manning, Willis, Decker, DThomas, Tamme vs Ryan, Turner, Roddy, Julio & Gonzo! Two great offenses...and two opportunistic defenses. Honestly, I'm just hoping for a shootout.

That'd make for a great game in person and and even better one in fantasy circles.

Good luck to both sides!

Denver wins 44-37!

Champ > julio

Porter > roddy

This spells Vom Doom for ryan. So sad.

First off, I think it's more likely that Champ will be on Roddy, and last time they faced off in 2008, Roddy went 5 for 102.

Falcons have also always handled Porter well. Roddy and Julio both had big games against the Saints in week 16 last year.

Also, I don't think you guys have an answer for Tony G either.

This.

In champ we trust.

Don't get me wrong, Champ is definitely the complete package (my brother's dog is actually named Champ. What kind of parents name their kids Champ and Boss anyway? Ah right, confident ones), but dude is 34 facing the best WR tandem in the league, and he had no luck shutting down Roddy the last time when he was 4 years younger.

Honestly I'll be happy if our WRs just burn him as often as he shuts them down.

Charlton County has put out some fine athletes.

I'm up 55 with Ryan and the Falcons D left to go, and the enemy has Peyton and Tamme. If I lose, I am never playing fantasy football again.

If you are up by 55 and still have Ryan and the Falcons D left-then you must be VERY lucky!! Go to a casino rather than watching the game.

Bush & Cruz in a league with bonus points for 100+ yard games and 50+ yard TDs. Bush gave me 50 and Cruz gave me 45.

So glad that I have a win wrapped up so I don't need anything from Ryan tonight. Go Broncos! Atlanta is pretty tough to beat at home, but I think the Broncos can get it done.

Prediction:

Broncos - 27

Falcons - 23

Julio will end up with around 6-87 but no scores this time. Tony G and the Quizz are the two that will hit pay dirt.

It's come to my attention that I was misinformed about Champ covering Roddy in 2008. He actually didn't play that game.

I still think that if they're smart, they'll cover Roddy with Champ, and hope that Porter with safety help can limit Julio... I just don't know that even Champ at this stage in his career can keep up with Julio, and think that Ryan/Roddy's rhythm is something he can more easily disrupt.

I still think that the Broncos are gonna have to bring some pass rush, because if you let Ryan sit back there and make his reads, someone will always be open to throw to, whether that be Julio, Roddy, Tony G, Douglas or Quizz.

Going home, opening a beer, going to daughter's swim lesson, going home, drinking more beer, eating fried chicken, drinking more beer, might cook some wings, drink more beer, pee, drink more beer, drink another beer, take a dump and pee, drink more beer, cheer as Falcons kick the sh!t outta the broncos, go to bed, try to nudge wife awake, get yelled at, go to sleep.

I had a chance of winning even with Rodgers getting shut down, Forte getting injured and mostly everyone else getting shut down except Cruz and Graham... but then V.Davis had to grab a SECOND TD within the last 3 secs of the game last night. >_<

91 to 79, I have no one left and I'm against Julio Jones AND T.Gonzalez. I'm pretty much dead unless Broncos get a shut out somehow.
