stevegrab
RIP I really feel sorry for his dad Ed. I remember seeing him at the HOF ceremonies and he wasn't in good shape. Could be a devastating thing for him. I guess Steve will have to go into the HOF posthemusly (sp?) Pope Flick
It cannot be underestimated what both he and his father did for the history of broadcast television. RIP.
i_am_the_swammi
Being a local company, a number of friends of mine have worked at NFL Films over the years...money wasn't great, but they said working with Sabol in inside the NFL was compensation they could not quantify. He was supposedly a really good dude....my condolences to those that were lucky enough to have known him, as I am sure he'll be missed by many. Chief Dick
Using a forearm shiver, Sabol attacked the tumor with the intensity of a rolling boulder. On this day, the tumor fought back, never giving ground. The warrior that is Sabol backed away, content knowing he fought his best fight, and on some cold days, the opponent wins.
Lippy225
My favorite show throughout college was NFL greatest moments where he was host. I learned about the players of the past and present and used to love watching it every week. I would watch highlights of guys like Dick Butkis, Jim Brown, Crazy Legs Hirsch, Lance Allworth.... The Sabol family in my opinion is one of the big reasons that football is the most popular sport in America today. RIP

MothAudio
Loved his [and his father's] work growing up. He gave the game and the players personality. The clip with Lou Saban screaming at his assistant coach "They're killin' me out there, Whitey, they're killin' me!" cracks me up to this day. RIP. stevegrab
I believe he was inducted last year. No, it was his father Ed that was inducted in 2011.
Chavez
The Sabol family in my opinion is one of the big reasons that football is the most popular sport in America today. RIP I'd have to agree with that....as satelliteoflovegm said, they made football "look and sound beautiful", which is pretty amazing for a vicious, ugly game. I read this with my best "John Fascenda" inside voice i had. My mind actually saw the slow-mo picture of Steve running down the tunnel to the field. Steve Sabol will be missed. He gave us insight to the drama, grace, humor and back story to a lot of players and games. Edited September 18, 2012 by Joessfl
