desperate measures and dependable brews part II

OK, reaction was pretty positive to this post even though I batted maybe .200 on the picks I made last week (Dexter McCluster and Josh Freeman). Again, these picks, with minimal non-expert justification, are for the truly a) desperate in a dozen team+ league 2) somewhat thrill seeking c) suicidal or d) those in on the take and in collusion to lose but who need a justifiable excuse in order to feign legitimacy (you can say, "Hey, but I read it on the Huddle (forums)!"

At the end I'll recommend a good brew to partake in should you choose to roll with one of these wacko picks. This week's pick is high ABV. I'd drink one before setting your lineup with these guys and at least one afterwards.

And while I'm at it, as far as the real picks go, how about that theHuddle.com projections and predictions the past two weeks? Reggie Bush #1 rated RB? Score! Calling Andre Brown's #'s to about the T? Awesome! Julio Jones 8/100/1 TD....yeesh. Don't I wish. Who didn't pick that to happen, though....? I was already counting my winnings Sunday night knowing I had Julio on MNF and needed a pithy 5 points to take the victory. It's hard getting to sleep Tuesday at 12:01 AM with your mouth full of crow.

Before I forget, this week's fantasy involving cheerleaders that really happened in real life:

http://thedirty.com/...e-cheerleaders/

On to this week, I'm singling out one exciting game in particular for the picks. No, not Ravens/Patriots. Not Packers/Seahawks. Not Giants/Panthers. Although that one would be really easy to pick on a Friday night. Start......RAMSES BARDEN! And drink Chimay Blue! ***** confidence rating! I write that column Wednesday and I'm hired by theHuddle on the spot.

I'm talking bout the Bengals at the Redskins. I'm talking bout RGIII, baybee! I'm talking bout...uh, wow. I guess the excitement kinda ends there, though, right? AJ Green he's great and all but....I mean he's never had more than 1 TD, if you wanna talk about absolutely reliable he's your man. Nothing shocking about picking him to have a fantastic game. Andy Dalton...yeah he's gonna get you your 10 but probably never above 20 fantasy points. Pierre Garcon (Garcon! Garcon!) ....nah, he's probably out this week. So let's really push the envelope, ladies and gentlemen, I give you this week's crazier than hell pick of the week ... a guy theHuddle doesn't even bother projecting stats for...I give you:

Josh Morgan!*

We all know America loves a good comeback story. And you couldn't find a guy more in need of redemption than this boob who single handedly threw away the game last week with a boneheaded move that he even SPECIFICALLY IN PRINT PREDICTED HE WOULDN'T MAKE. The Redskins made yet another idiotic personnel decision by giving this guy multimillions and here's how he makes his mark.

But this week, going against a Bengals D that had Joe Flacco looking like Joe Montana, had Brandon Weinke looking like a guy with a .5 QB rating multiplied by 500....I just have a feeling ol' Joshua is going to turn those death threats into the prequel for becoming a local legend...for at least one week he's going to earn that 1.8 million dollar contract (that's $120,000 for every catch he had last year, BTW).

If you're looking for some "evidence" or "proof" to backup this assertion, I don't have much other than he went from 1 catch in week one to 5 for 50 (on 5 targets), being the Redskins leading receiver in catches, in week 2. Also, Vegas has this game at 50 O/U (3rd highest this week) so they're expecting points abound with very little D to get in the way (as DMD likes to say).

So......I guess it comes down to whether you want your fantasy football experience to lean more to the fantasy side of things. Do you want to live in a world where a guy can come back from being the biggest goat of the season in one week and then totally redeem himself the next by snagging 25 balls for 250 yards? Do you want to live in a world where college cheerleaders for real play grab ass in sexy lingerie behind closed hotel room doors? I know I sure do. Let's take this fantasy all the way!

Oh yeah, Andrew Hawkins should be pretty good in this game "too. He's Mr. Excitement 2012 as far as I'm concerned. Week 2 CLE vs CIN had two of the best moves I've seen in awhile, one by Trent and one by Hawkins. He's got the stuff for real and I think he's going to get the ball a good bit going forward; I think he's what the Bengals always wanted Bernard Scott to actually be.

Anyway, this week's beer is Don de Dieu by Unibroue. I'm pretty sure Paul Sandy reviewed this in the column which should be started back immediately, but if not, this beer is heaven in a glass. Seriously, it tastes like golden clouds. It's 9% ABV so don't pound it, though it's hard not too. It's a wheat beer but please for God's sake don't put a lemon in this thing. Please don't put fruit in any beer unless you're at the beach.

I'll let my friends at Beer Advocate expound with better words about beer than I care to muster:

"The best beer I have had in the style. One of my favorites, if not my favorite beer of all time. Perfection."

"The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a relatively gentle carbonation. So smooth!"

"Synaesthetically, yellow glazed with a crystalline silvery white milkiness." (wha??)

Good luck and good brews,

WT

* Disclaimer: Josh Morgan sat out of practice on Wednesday for some reason. I dunno if he actually practiced the rest of the week. So check the inactives or whatever if you're seriously going to play this scrub.

Good stuff!

Here's a suggestion if you really are seriously trying to get the huddle to notice you in hopes of some kinda article possibility. Cheerleader stuff and beer was already done in previous articles as I'm sure you know. So come up with something unique of your own origin and make it as creative as you've done with these few tidbits you've done. If you're just having a good time and miss those articles then carry on as I too enjoy beer and half naked women!

yeah I love almost all of them. Not a huge fan of Ephemere or Blache Chambly but La Fin Du Monde, Trois Pistoles, Maudite and Terrible, which I tried for the first time the other day, are the best beers out there as far as I'm concerned. Everything else is good, but is just not Unibroue. Go Quebec!

yeah the origin of this writeup a couple of weeks ago was because some folks mentioned they missed JumboTron and Weekly Six Pack....I really do as well, so I looked to include my favorite parts of both and include a fantasy nugget of questionable value.

I have no delusions the Huddle would be interested in hiring me as I have very little in the way of actual valuable advice that would satisfy a paying subscriber. I'm going to write this thing entirely for the enjoyment of writing, of which I haven't had a chance to do much in the way of recently. As long as it's fine to use this forum for such I'll do so here as I make it a point to come here often. Every FF blog I've started starts and ends with one article.

Normally I'm writing about application virtualization and an enterprise messaging platform which doesn't lend itself to beer and boobs nearly as well.
