snotbubbler
How do the Saints go from throwing the ball to him 14 times last week with 13 catches, to not throwing him the ball once today. I don't understand why they don't try to get the ball in his hands more. All he does is produce when he does. Saints are in trouble if they don't figure this thing out. Whiskey Pimp
It seems like they're trying to show how deep they are by getting the ball into about 10 different players' hands instead of riding their main players.
Phat Rugby
He did have 3 targets. Edited September 24, 2012 by Phat Rugby

lkirc
Sproles has been frustrating to own this year so far, but I kind of expected it when I drafted him. At least he was used in the running game a bit yesterday. He will get his catches. This was just an strange game for the Saints. I know the Saints are 0-3, but, from a fantasy perspective, they are still going to score a ton of points. Their defense is putrid right now.... cre8tiff
I have Sproles (bench player). But I'm eyeing Alfred Morris. Too bad he plays for Shanahan.
detlef
The only league I have him is .5PPR plus gives us 1 for 25 on return yards. And, for whatever reason, I was able to get him sort of late. We start 2 flex and I plan to bench him exactly once this year. Whatever their bye week is. rattsass
Sproles is going to be kind of inconsistent as a result of his role. I think most of us that drafted him undersood that. But it seems the valleys may be a bit lower without Payton there. I wouldn't panic, he will still produce enough big days to make you glad you drafted him. That's it right there but it's not that we should plan for him to be lower because of it. Rather, the inconsistency that a poor playcaller brings to the table makes it more of a crapshoot. I heard a stat after week 1 that Sproles was on the field for something like 50 outta their 75 snaps on O and dude still gets no carries. That's insane! Then you throw that on top of 0 carries but a ton of catches in two games then 7 carries and no catches in the third game. Nuts! I expected a drop off as long as all RBs are healthy but the inconsistency scares me a whole lot more.
Avernus
in one league that I am in, players get points for return yards and that is what has salvaged my drafting of Sproles....in other leagues would try to move him after an explosive game and move on... Air, ground, whatever, he'll get somewhere between 50-100 APY and possibly a score. I see no deviation with yesterday. Yes, the zero carries to zero catches is weird, but it's kind of consistency through inconsistency. As I'm a .5 pt PPR with him, I obviously prefer the 10 catches, but still, 7 for 62 is not a complete lack of involvement. Actually, I'm pretty encouraged: how will the Saints use him next??? Hmm...if we're wondering so are opposing DCs.

I didn't expect him to be inconsistent based on what I've seen from him last year. In 2011, Sproles played every single game and had only 1 single digit point outing of under 5 points. The rest of the games he scored in double figures, 5 of which were over 20 points. Below are his single game totals from last year- 15.2 20 20.5 18.1 14.1 14.2 28.7 13.6 20.9 4.3 10.2 18.4 16.1 22.2 16.9 17.9 271.3 pts on the season for an average of about 17 pts per game (16.96). Pretty damn consistent and reliable, IMO. Edited September 26, 2012 by irish
awahl63
^^^ Agreed. Sproles will get his receptions. I'm happy to see him getting some runs as well. No need to panic and as stated before, the Saints will be putting up major points offensively since their defense is impressively bad. rattsass
Last year's gamelog is consistent. And that was one season in his career, with the guiding hand of Sean Payton on the sideline. Anybody that didn't expect some change in continuity of the Saints offense this year was just burying their head in the sand. Not saying Sproles is any kind of trouble going forward, but we are likely to see a couple more of these clunkers (fantasy point-wise) going forward, and I accepted that possibility when I drafted him on both my redrafts. Just my opinion.
Balzac
What am I missing here? He's still a top 10 RB in ppr (top 15 in .5ppr - equal in total pts to McCoy, who I don't see many complaints about) - and that's including a mulligan game like last week's. He'll be fine in the long run and will get more than enough touches to keep his production consistent. He could very well end up doing exactly what he did last year (and simply had his clunker earlier in the season, rather than late). If he lays one or two more eggs (note last game would likely not have been an egg if he had converted on those 3 targets), I'll be concerned - until then, he's my RB2, with confidence, in multiple leagues. rattsass
Yeah, Sproles is probably the least of my worries with my teams...except when I have to cover his bye of course. Edited September 26, 2012 by rattsass
