Should NE have used their timeouts?

Just wondering what people think about the end of the NE/BAL game.

Wonder if Bellicheat is going to use blue or black ink on the hefty check he's gonna have to write for yelling at and pulling the arm of the official after the game.. Edited by Shorttynaz

???

Used their timeouts, to maybe give Baltimore more time to score?

Their only chance was a stop or clock running out.

Unless you have specific reasoning, that just doesn't happen. You don't assume your defense is gonna let you down.

Exactly...why assume that the PAT D was going to let them score? BAL was content to run down the clock and kick a FG. A timeout means they either run another play or go for the kick right there. If they make the FG then there's time left on the clock to take some downfield shots at the endzone...if they run another play there's a chance to get the ball back of perhaps ice the kicker.

I understand the reasoning...just wondering if they weren't better off trying to save some time.

They only had two timeouts, right? Once that Def PI call they coudln't have saved any time. Balt just got in better position on first down. If the pats call timeout there, Balt simply runs another play and NE burns their last timeout. On 3rd down they run again and then send the FG team out.
