Commish about to VETO this trade..

Guys - I'm just seeking advice on what to do here..

Today while at work, I get a trade proposal by a "newer" guy in our league. He's got a decent team, but he's 0-3 in last place, I'm 2-1 and based on points, I'm in 2nd place in the league.

The trade that was proposed to me (and I accepted) was this:

I gave up CJ2K, Stevan Ridley, Steve Johnson, and in return I received Trent Richardson and Torrey Smith (my current team/roster WITH this trade is in my signature). The other owner accepted it. It's a done deal - waiting on commish approval.

I just got off the phone with the commish who called to say "Dude, I think I'm going to have to decline this offer to uphold the balance and integrity of this league. Everyone here paid $100 to get in, and this trade clearly makes you the best team in the league. You're giving up CJ2K who shouldn't even be rostered at this point, Ridley who is in a RBBC at best, and Steve Johnson who's on WAY overperformed his potential. In return you're getting two every week studs who will see your roster each week."

I was honestly shocked! I personally thought I was OVERPAYING for this deal, not getting a heavily one sided deal as the commish see's it. I told him Smith is NOT an every week starter. He's gonna at best be my flex player. Ridley WAS an every week starter as was Steve Johnson. CJ2K was riding my bench, but he certainly was not droppable.

He told me he's going to look things over one more time, but he's heavily inclined to decline this offer. I'm personally convinced that being a manager in this league is clouding his judgement as commissioner. It's not his place to make my roster moves for me. I bought into this league (and have done so for the past 8 years) to have sole ownership of this team. I wasn't aware that part of my entry fee this season was to pay for someone else to make my decisions for me.

I just went over the numbers based on our league scoring..

T Rich = 16.3 points/game

T Smith = 15 points/game = 31.3 points/game

S Johnson = 15.6 points/game

S Ridley = 12.3 points/game = 27.9 points/game

Without CJ2K, I'm getting about 3 points a game

CJ2K = 5.6 points/game = 33.5 points/game - so... The way I see it and the same thing I told the commish, I'm OVERPAYING!!

Smith had ONE good game, Ridley had ONE not so great game, and all the sudden Ridley is a scrub and Smith is an every week starter....?????

Well if Bowe for Smith was accepted, which IMO is far more one sided than your deal, I don't see how he could veto your trade without being a hypocrite.

Like the other guy said, ask for your $100 and tell him if he wants to manage your team he can buy in.

yea thats total BS....its obviously not collusion and even though it doesnt matter..ive seen FARRRR more one sided deals....if he does veto it, i would at the very least cut all ties with him and make sure I spread the word of his corrupt commishing...and I would certainly request my entry fee back....dino and delfa worded it perfectly..if he wants to manage your team then buy it

a veto should only be used if collusion is suspected. dumb owners are part of the game, if you found one to exploit before they did props to you

Tell your commish it his job to simply process the trade and look for obvious player dumping and collusion. Absent any more than that specifically spelled out in your rules he should just click approve and manage his damn team.

The fact that he was going veto it and needed any sort of lobbying by you is scary and total BS.

1) Post this for your league to see, and then call for a vote to have the commish removed. He has no business being in that position.

2) If 1) doesn't work, request your money back, payable immediately, and quit.

3) If you don't do at least 2), you have earned for yourself anything further that happens.

I think you are getting the short end of the stick. Torrey Smith has proved nothing. Steve Johnson is better, has proven more. Trent Richardson is playing for a train wreck of a team that will not have the lead much. I see more 40 and 60 yard games than 100 yard games. So unless it is a keeper league, Ridley has similar value. And then add CJ0K to the mix, who at least has potential to rebound. But this is the problem with leagues voting or commishes having veto power. Many always think one or the other is getting the better end of the deal no matter how close the trade is. The funniest is when a league votes and 4 or 6 veto, but half think the trade is lopsided for one side and the other half think is lopsided in for the other.

Wait, didn't you say in the other thread that commish should veto a lopsided trade for league intergrity? I agree that leagues voting on every trade is crazy. Don't even like the idea of few owners (seen anywhere from 2-4) protesting the trade goes to a league vote.

Honestly, me and my co-commish have "veto" power if you will, in that every trade must be approved by us before it will be processed. You know how many times we've refused to approve (veto) a trade, ZERO times in 20 years. We've looked at a few as being possibly too lopsided, talked to the owners to understand their views, etc. In the end we approved. Of course this is a keeper league and most of us have been in the league for the last 15 years together.

Some might ask, why require commish approval, partially it is to properly address things like traded draft picks which CBS doesn't handle well. But also to make sure there is no player dumping, or collussion.

BTW, a lot of your own personal views on players was used to determine that the OP was getting the short end of the stick. What qualifies you to do that? The fact that you still think CJ0K has some potential to rebound while writing off Richardson because his team's offene blows shows just how wrong you could be. (Most think Richardson will be a stud in the future, and probably still a top 15 RB this year while they also think CJ is barely rosterable).

I'd tell the commish that his response is an absolute embarrassment and immediately pull out of the league if he doesn't let the trade through. I don't understand guys who try to pull that sort of crap.

If every trade has to be equal - whats the point of trading??? Sometimes you have to gamble.......and yeah if its not collussion, no veto.

And you can't even trade your bench players because that would make you better compared to the rest of the leagues, which apparently is also a reason to veto. Trading is getting hard!

I'd too ask for my money back if he veto's.........as others have said Smith had 1 good game thus far, while Johnson has been productive all 3 weeks. Trich and Ridley is a wash IMO in terms of potential. Cj mean very little at least his name should be sufficient to balance this trade.
