DanTheMan_5
I am the commishioner of a league and I have 2 teams wanting to make a trade today. In my league constitution I wasn't real clear on when trades would be allowed, however I guess I kind of assumed that once the first game of the week kicked off, there could me no more trades until the following tuesday. With games every thursday this basically means teams have a 2 day window to make trades. How do my fellow huddlers handle their trades? kcmast
Why would you have to limit when a trade can be made? As long as a guy hasn't played yet that week, that's all that should matter, and then maybe not even that.
Joebirds55
I agree it shouldn't matter.
BS Miscreant
I got no problem with trades at any point prior to kickoff of involved players' games but I don't play with people I dont completely trust to be upstanding either. If something fishy were to occur then we'd deal with it.
DanTheMan_5
I guess the more I think about it it really shouldn't matter. Now if somebody proposed a trade on Wednesday and it got accepted AFTER the Thursday game, I suppose I'd cll both parties to make sure they are both still on board with the deal. Other than that, I'm off to update my league constitution.
DanTheMan_5
OK now I am having another thought. Let me illustrate a hypothetical scenario. Say team A trades Torrey Smith and Andy Daulton to team B for Greg Jennings. Team A would essentially be getting the services of they player he owned AND the player he traded for the same week. If I was playing Team A this week I'd be kinda pissed. Am I overthinking this?
Big John
Trades should ba allowed as long as they don't involve players that already played that week Edited September 29, 2012 by Big John

Unless Team A had Smith on the bench, then it should be allowed to pass, but you can't have a player in the starting line-up and be in a pending trade simultaneously, IMO
Joebirds55
A hypothetical...I was looking to trade for Trent Richardson even after the thurs game. If I landed him yesterday/today I'd just assume I wouldn't get his points but the original owner would for this weeks matchup. If that makes sense. The problem I would have with that is the team you are trading gets to use Richardsons points AND the player you are trading to hims points in the same week. kind of double dipping. I think Big John had the right idea.
BS Miscreant
If there's a way for your league to do it then why not. Most sites won't support that though.
chris2114
you shouldn't be able to get the points of a player that's already played - that is most unfair. I think trades that involve players that have already played should just be processed on the Tuesday instead of the usual 24/48 delay most leagues have

faceplant
Our trades/veto process window is at 24 hours for all players that haven't played that week. Otherwise, trades go through on Tuesday morning. You can essentially make a trade on Saturday morning that will go through Sunday morning as long as those players didn't go on Thursday night. I play with people i trust so there are never any real veto issues.
skhyatt
If I'm not mistaken, MFL will allow trades, even if the Thursday game has been played, but, the players that played Thursday, if involved in the trade, their stats remain with the team that they played with on Thursday, as it should be. stevegrab
Agree with the general consensus here, trade should be allowed unless players involved already played in a game. (Could be an exception if those guys were on the bench.) Trade window should really be no different than that for other add/drop. If I can add a player after the Thursday game was played, I should be allowed to trade for players. Barring something in your rules that specifically state no trade allowed after first game of the week, you have to process the trade as normal.
