detlef
So, just saw the comparison between Brees and Unitas during their respective 47 game streaks. Given the era, I never dreamed Unitas would have been nearly as prolific. That, while he did have an impressive streak, I just guessed that there were lots of 1 TD games during it. Dude passed for 12 less TDs than Brees during each of their 47 game stretches. 102-114. In other words, he averaged over 2 TDs/ game during that streak. Basically 3 full modern day seasons worth of games of 32+ TDs per 16 games. That would have been damned impressive in today's era.
Chavez
Johnny U hutson'ed the other QB in his era - he had SIGNIFICANT gaps in pretty much every raw # category. Clearly ahead of his time as a passer (though I'm sure throwing to Ray Berry, Lenny Moore, and John Mackey didn't hurt, either) EDIT - I just checked the #s and the gaps weren't quite as significant as I recall, but Y.A Tittle was definitely THAT guy in the pre-Unitas era) Edited October 5, 2012 by Chavez
