40th Anniversary

October 5th, 1972, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Eighteen years old, 180 pounds, meritoriously promoted private first class, orders to the Infantry Training School in San Onofre, California and then to the Republic of South Vietnam. $500 in my pocket. The world on a string.

My how the time has flown. But if someone had told me then that in 40 years I'd have a career I love (teaching), a wife who makes everyday an adventure, four kids and 5 grandkids (and another on the way) all healthy and living within two hours drive, a growing farm business, and good health myself...why, I'd have been blown away!

Thank you Sgts. Franz, Limberg, and especially Sgt. Grush. I would not be the man I am today without you all.
