This was inevitable and everyone knew it.

 

Any running capable scrambling quarterback is more high risk (maybe high reward) than a typical pocket passer. I don't have stats to back that up, but I'll just go a head and throw it out there.

Most QBs with good wheels coming out of college figured out pretty quickly into their NFL career that it's a lot easier to throw the ball than run it. Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Steve Young, McNair, etc.. They still ran when there was nothing else or they needed to pick up that key first down, but they quit calling their own numbers after getting knocked silly a few times. Vick has never figured it out. After today methinks RGIII might soon. Newton has yet to and I expect it'll take a little longer because he's a lot bigger than most and it'll take more hits to accumulate with him.
