delusions of grandeur Posted October 8, 2012 Share Posted October 8, 2012 Throughout 601 career carries, Jamaal Charles continues to maintain his absurd 6+ yards per carry average that he's held since his first full season in 2010 (he had 5.3 and 5.9 in 2008 and 2009 respectively). He's showing no signs of slowing down and is continuing to make defenses pay big time, even despite no real passing game to respect. He now sits at 6.0YPC right on the dot, a feat not achieved by any NFL RB with significant carries (Bo Jackson is second on the list with 5.4 in roughly the same number of career carries). It's been said by some that he'll need 1,000 career carries before this can be considered a true record-setting average, but barring injury, I don't see any reason to think he'll come back to earth. The doubters are really running out of reasons to think he can't. Though as much as I hated Haley for holding him back to keep him fresh, he doesn't need a ton of carries to do big damage, so I'm actually not crazy about seeing him already have 100 carries and 30 yesterday. Ironically, too big of a workload is really the only concern now. Simply an amazing talent who plays with much more to prove than his speedy counterpart CJ1YPC. Tripleshot Posted October 8, 2012 Share Posted October 8, 2012 I see no reason why he can't. It's not like he's only had one good season with a high ypc, and he's got a great offensive line. If a torn ACL can't keep him from doing what he's doing, I don't know what can. He's just electric. And I agree on the high carries. His calling card is his ability to take to long on any play. As an owner of Charles, it is great to see him get more work, but 30 carries is too many. I wish the Chiefs had a decent QB so they weren't AFRAID of throwing it..... their gameplan yesterday was do what we do well and don't screw it up.... worked great until Cassell couldn't figure out how to take a snap at the 1.....
