nelsosi
Interesting spot start if Alex Smith can't go this weekend? Skill set translates to big fantasy upside IMO.
stevegrab
That's a big if, and if Smith can start he's worthless. I suppose if you're dealing with injury/bye issues, or have Smith and were planning to start him it might be an interesting option.
Bier Meister
Biggest questions are around how he might perform while dropping back into the Pocket for 90% of the game.

nelsosi
Looks like Smith will be a go after all
stevegrab
Looks like Smith will be a go after all That was kind of my point, when was he ever concerned not likely to play this week (the "big if" part)? When I read your post I went to see what was wrong with him, something about a finger injury, and that barring a setback or it being worse than reported he'd play. Did you read or hear something that said he was NOT LIKELY to play?
nelsosi
It's a finger on his throwing hand. Harbaugh openly expressed concern about it on Monday, though it appears to be fine now as it didn't affect his practice yesterday Anyway, the reason I posted it is because I feel like Kaepernick could be interesting from a fantasy perspective (given his dual threat skill set) if given a start. If Smith missed a game, he'd be a popular pickup. EDIT: found the Harbaugh quote: http://www.sfgate.com/49ers/article/Harbaugh-concerned-about-Smith-s-finger-3930511.php Edited October 11, 2012 by nelsosi
Bier Meister
I've heard they are going to tape Smith's fingers... i don't. Love that for a qb
nelsosi
Yeah that's definitely not great for a QB.
