i_am_the_swammi
After two monumental late-game collapses, and with a bye week to prepare under a new leader, the Eagles have released Juan Castillo from his duties, and replaced him with Secondary Coach Todd Bowles. Not surprising, though it is some good crow for Reid to chew on, since Castillo was heavily scrutinized as not having enough background on as a DC when he was promoted from OL coach last year. This failure is on Andy.
stevegrab
Yeah I was thinking he was the DC who had previously been an offsenvie position coach, seemed like a very strange promotion when it happened.
bpwallace49
Huge drop in sacks this year for the defense. "wide 9" just isnt getting it done this year.
Wolverines Fan
Agree. Eagles D has plenty of talent. Should have a lot more sacks than it does. Edited October 16, 2012 by Wolverines Fan
RC94
I agree that PHI's defense has been underachieving, but their offense is the 2nd lowest scoring in the league on a per game basis. That seems to be the bigger issue.

That seems to be the bigger issue. Maybe they could score more if the defense could force more three-and-outs, and get the offense more opportunities? Or how about setting the offense up in good field position? The Eagles rank 29th in starting field position....that ain't gonna win ya many games in the long run. Chavez
Based on something Tony Kornheiser about the Eagles' D being 13th in points.... - 10th in yds/play - 2nd in opposing passer rating - 30th in sack % (which is odd, considering the opposing passer rating they have) - 4.1 in yds/rush (league avg is 4.2) Yo, this just in Andy - your D ain't the problem. You can carp about the sack % but they're effective defending the pass. I'd also give some extra credit on being 13th in points allowed, which would probably be better without opponents getting short fields due to turnovers (if nothing else, 2 defensive tds off Eagle turnovers). Skrappy1
Maybe they could score more if the defense could force more three-and-outs, and get the offense more opportunities? C'mon man, that works both ways. Maybe the defense wouldn't be so mediocre if they weren't on the field so much due to the offense constantly turning the ball over.

STL Fan
Yeah, it's a little weird to be like 31st in the league in points scored and fire your DEFENSIVE coordinator. Sounds like something the Rams would do.
