With 6 teams on a bye and everyone scrambling for RB help, is Dwyer worth a look?

Per rotoworld:

Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) and Isaac Redman (ankle) will not play at Cincinnati in Week 7 after missing a third consecutive practice on Friday.

Mendenhall was given the better chance of playing, but he's going to rest up for Week 8 versus the Redskins instead. Jonathan Dwyer is tentatively expected to draw the start and handle the bulk of the early-down workload, giving way to Baron Batch and Chris Rainey on passing downs.

Who's the better reach this week- Dwyer, DeAngelo, or Jaque Bell? Yes, it's come to this...

The Huddle has Mendenhall and Redman in the predictions, so I'm not sure how this new news will affect things. Also, Dwyer was apparently a healthy scratch last week as Mendy and Redman were both active and Batch and Rainey contribute on special teams. Rotoworld seems to think Dwyer gets the bulk of the carries this week.

Rashard Mendenhall - RB - Pittsburgh Steelers Posted 10/19/12 1:55pm et facebook_thumb.jpg twitter_thumb2.gif Pittsburgh Steelers RBs Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles') and Isaac Redman (ankle) did not practice Friday, Oct. 19, and will not play in Week 7. Huddle Up: This clears up the picture a bit for the Pittsburgh backfield; Baron Batch and Jonathan Dwyer should get the bulk of the work with Chris Rainey involved as well. Both Dwyer and Batch are RB3/flex options at this point, with Dwyer possessing the better upside. If you have other decent options, it might be best to stay away from the Pittsburgh backfield this weekend, but either of these guys will make decent bye-week fill-ins if you need one.

How the Steelers will rotate their backfield is up to speculation. Dwyer was the #2 back early in the season when Mendenhall was out.

week 1 - touches - Batch (1), Dwyer (11), Rainey (2), Redman (13)

Week 2 - Batch (1), Dwyer (13), Rainer (3), Redman (13)'

Week 3 - Batch (6), Dwyer (4), Rainey (4), Redman (12)

Since Mendy is back

Week 4 - Mendy (16), Rainey (2), Redman (3)

Week 5 - Batch (11), Mendy (7), Rainey (1), Redman (6)

Dwyer has been inactive the last two games. They need him now that Redman and Mendy appear out. I was intending on adding him in when Redman and Mendy were called out. It will be a committee backfield though watching them all I do like how Batch looks more than Dwyer. CIN has a weaker rushing defense and there should be some fantasy points here to mine. Dwyer did not look good against the Jets or Raiders and lost a fumble and hurt his toe. It appears the update tonight will split the load between Barron and Dwyer. Too bad PIT won't pick just one and give him the whole load.

Both Dwyer and Batch were available in my league. I could only make space for one so I took Dwyer.

I advise the rest of you to take Batch and I will assume responsibility for Dwyer posting dismal numbers.
