Seattle loss: Gronk 6 catches on 8 targets Woodhead 4 carries and 5 catches on 5 targets (9 touches) Jets win: Gronk 6 catches on 9 targets Woodhead 6 carries and 4 catches on 4 targets (10 touches) Woody touched the ball more in week 7 than Gronk was even targeted Moral of the story: Woodhead isn't why they lost to Seattle or any other team this year. Problem with this team is the defense, and the problem with the defense is that BB is living in the past. He has used this D in the past, where you rush 4, drop 7 in coverage and keep everything in front of you. Make the other team string play after play together to drive down the field. The problem is that with the rule changes to help the O, this is very easy to do now. Any schmo, see Sanchez, can complete pass after pass with zero pass rush and average players in coverage. This defense needs to get WAY more aggressive or it will NOT improve. They blitz the least of any defense in the league, and it shows. And the reason they are emphasizing the running game this year, whitehype, is because Belichick said in the pre-season they needed to be able to run even when the other team knows they are going to run and that is priority #1. Just my guess (cuz I haven't watched them that much), but with a young defense still coming into their own, it seems like they're doing what they need to do to try to keep them off the field. They just might be finding out that running in today's NFL is only going to hold them off so long before you have to air it out and keep up with the scores.
