liking him more and more as my desperation play of the week ...

... based solely off this quote by Carson Palmer: from: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/raiders-might-rely-heavily-qb-231048179--nfl.html

"'Since I've been here I've waited for him to get his opportunity and it hasn't worked out and here it is,'' Palmer said. ''He'll get his touches and I can't wait. I mean, he's so electrifying. He puts his foot in the ground and goes. He wiggles out of hits, he wiggles out of tackles. Can't wait to throw him the ball, get him in the open field. He's so much fun to watch at practice it's, like I said, a long time coming.''

That almost sounds to me like confirmation that Rundown DMC and Goodson are confirmed out.

I mean, you gotta like the sound of that, right? How often does a veteran QB get giddy over a 3rd string RB (maybe 4th if you think Reece is in line to get more touches) getting a chance?

The guy ran/runs a 4.35 40 (obviously why the Raiders drafted him back in the Al Davis heyday of drafting anyone who posted that kind of time) ...

look at what backs have done against the Ravens' D this year! Jamal Charles 140 yards! Felix Jones 92 yds and a touchdown! BJGE 92 yards! It normally takes him 3 games to get that!

I think folks who are picking up Reece are missing out on who's going to get the work this week...

Well, he is practicing against the Raiders' D, so take that with a grain of salt.

Jones is built like a WR and plays like a WR: 6'-0" & 195 lbs. Hell, Randall Cobb, who is a WR who happens to line up at RB occasionally is 5'-10"/192 lbs. Reece on the other hand is 6'-3", 240 lbs, and over his career has average 4.9 ypc and 11.6 ypr and has looked good in the few times he's had an opportunity for a little bit of extended play in the backfield. He just hasn't had much of a chance with DMac and Bush in front of him during his career.

Jones needs open field to make his game work and he isn't effective at all between the tackles. Reece can do the heavy lifting inside and in tight quarters, plus he's a fine blocker and receiver out of the backfield. OAK most probably put Reece at FB because he does block well and he has enough talent that they had to find a way to get him on the field even with DMac there.

I know there is an odd strange strong attraction for some with Jones, but I think Reece is the guy who can carry the bulk of the load and be effective doing so.

It's anyone's guess, but I wouldn't make too much of "how often does the starting QB say such nice things about the 3rd string RB". I'd say he does so about as often as the 3rd string RB gets pushed into duty. I mean, you've got to get the kid fired up, don't you?

"Well, as you can imagine, we're sort of hosed at RB this week, what with our top 2 both going down. But, what the hell, we have this Jones kid and I've got to hand the ball to someone."

The Raiders have questions about his ability tyo secure the ball which is why he didnt have as many touches as would have been expected last week with their rb1 and rb2 going down. This is according to MFL
