Geo33
With all the 2, 3 and 4 game leads in divisions, I'm starting to think about fantasy playoff matchups. This especially applys to my league because our playoffs end week 17. The Broncos and Ravens to name a few, seem like they will have their division wrapped up sooner rather than later. This sucks for owners like myself who have Peyton, Rice, D Thomas and also for owners who have Foster, Matt Ryan, etc. Anybody else worried about this? I'm scared as hell ill have to start a new qb or rb in my championship games if i make it there. Such a shame.....

faceplant
Hard to say at this point. I'd say both of those teams would love to get a bye and avoid wild card weekend. In that case, they may be playing hard until the final week of the season.
delusions of grandeur
Hard to say at this point. I'd say both of those teams would love to get a bye and avoid wild card weekend. In that case, they may be playing hard until the final week of the season. Exactly, wrapping up their division does not mean that teams will just go into rest-mode. There is still home field advantage and the 2 first round byes to play for, races that only the Falcons lead by 2 games, and in the AFC the Texans by only 1 game. To use the 10-1 Falcons as an example (since they have the biggest lead), as of right now, they would need 13 wins to clinch a bye, 14 wins to clinch home-field. That means that (unless the Bears or Niners lose between now and then), the earliest they could clinch it is week 15, and that's with them not losing any games to the Saints, Panthers or Giants. If they don't do it by then, they still have to play the Lions and Bucs again, neither an easy win... And this is speaking of the team in the best shape right now. Most other races and even many divisions could easily come down to the wire, with important divisional matchups down the stretch. Hopefully like most leagues, this is why you play the fantasy championship in week 16, as 2 games to go can make a big difference over 1 game to go, when it's far less likely to be consequential. So pretty much, be rooting against the leaders and rooting for those chasing them, because week 16 could very easily have a lot of meaning without much having to happen. Otherwise, it could be difficult to predict with teams like the Falcons in particular, who have two-pronged goals of staying healthy but also being ready for the playoffs. Geo33
My league does 2 weeks per matchup - week 14 and 15 being the first round of playoffs and 16 and 17 being the championship. So I'm hoping for it all to come down to week 17 for most teams. At the least, I hope the teams will make it clear who they're resting so I can at least change my roster accordingly. STL Fan
In our leage we have a guy who on the strength of Foster and P. Manning is cruising to first place overall. He posted a pretty hilarious message on our league board yesterday about his intent to rest some of his key FF players to keep them fresh for the playoffs. This is an old league (1993) full of OLD friends and thrives on good-natured smack talk. It's a little off-topic here, but it was damn funny and started a barrage of messages about how sweet it's going to be when one of us knocks him off. THAT's why I play FF. Dexter Morgan
Given Atlanta's struggles in the playoffs in the Matt Ryan era, I don't see them resting the players too much. Maybe they'll play only 1 half or so in week 17 but nothing before that. They're not gonna wanna be rusty in the playoffs, especially considering they're almost for sure gonna get that first round bye. I believe Aaron Rodgers commented in the pre-season about how it was a mistake for them to have rested up for the playoffs as the came into the Giants game really flat. Definitely agree, and if it hadn't been to the Saints, I'm very happy the perfect season distraction is out of the way. Showing up in the playoff is the #1 stated priority of this team after the last few years. But that doesn't necessarily make the situation better. 1/2 a performance from your top players can be devastating if they don't put up big points before getting sat. However, at least you'll know what you're looking at (because I wouldn't bank on them playing the whole game if they have the #1 seed locked up) and plan accordingly.
