Dez Bryant might be out for remainder of the year

News to me. According to Rotoworld:

Richie Whitt of CBS Dallas reports Dez Bryant will miss the remainder of the season with torn ligaments in his finger.

Bryant initially called the injury a sprained finger, and he caught a 27-yard touchdown against the Bengals playing through it in Week 14. Per Whitt, however, the injury will require surgery and Bryant will be placed on season-ending injured reserve. Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com reports that Bryant's status will be determined, "pending the results of a hand specialist," but the tea leaves suggest we won't be seeing Bryant play again this year. It's a devastating blow to the Cowboys' playoff chances, and fantasy football teams alike.

That is the dagger in an already slim playoff chance. Austin is as fragile as glass, Ogletree and the other cast of characters at wr3 wont provide much impact and witten will draw more coverage now . I wish we could fall back on a running game but I think Liberace is our starting guard these days

Cue cowboyz1 talking injuries...

Oh no, I wouldn't want to be accused of exaggerating the extent of our merely dinged up team. Hell every other team in the league has 15 on IR so we just need to keep fighting though the bumps and bruises just like all the other teams in the NFL.......

According to this http://www.cbssports...fl/injuries/pup

BAL Ravens - 14

CIN Bengals - 9

DAL Cowboys - 6 does not include Dez Bryant and not a single OL

...

I stopped there, was just trying to check some other teams and was looking at those with a high number on IR (the list shows other injuries and goes back to before 2012 for some reason).

So I'm curious, what is your source for 15 players on IR for the Cowboys, and is it one I can use to check all other 31 NFL teams so I can verify your claim of most injured team in the NFL.

This might also be an interesting read, granted its a couple weeks old now, but says Cowboys have 9th most

http://www.bloggingt...injured-reserve <- link has a handy chart by team

and this looks like a Cowboys blogging site, so doubt they down play their injuries compared to the rest of the NFL.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told DallasCowboys.com Monday that Dez Bryant (finger) is "50:50" to play again this season.

Despite previous reports, Cowboys.com writer Nick Eatman says his "gut" is Bryant will not be placed on injured reserve, but the team won't know for sure until results come back from Dez's visit to a hand specialist. Eatman does concede that Dez "could be out of the rest of the season," if the hand specialist determines Bryant needs year-ending surgery to repair the torn finger ligaments. Garrett will speak to reporters later today. Dec 10 - 4:38 PM

Bad info there. I posted the list here. Or you can check it yourself at dallascowboys.com>team IR list at bottom of page. Or NFL.com transactions sort by IR.

PUP is not IR as in Injured reserve as in done for the season.

Dez Bryant, who fractured his left index finger Sunday against against the Bengals, has decided to play Sunday against the Steelers unless he's told he can't, a source close to the Dallas Cowboys receiver told ESPN on Tuesday morning.

"Unless the doctors say he medically can't do it, Dez is going to play," the source said.

I need this guy big time. Even if it's against a somewhat stellar Steelers defense.

Not so stellar against the Chargers last Sunday, were they?

Valid point about last week.

But for 7 of the last 8 games against the Steelers, no QB has thrown for more than 200 yards or more than one TD (with San Diego the one outlier). And Rivers was actually 200 on the nose.
