keggerz
Peterson told Peter King that he wants to break Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record of 2105 yards. I just posted an article on my blog that shows the odds of doing so are pretty long: http://goo.gl/TIz9p Enjoy.
electricrelish
Nice detailed account as to why one should doubt it will happen. I was kind of surprised that you decided to end it with I want to play both sides of the argument so no one can call me out. I'm calling you out. You didn't believe in him before the season and since he proved you wrong, you wrote a fun article about how you'll prove him wrong this time. Nice job. Were you hoping the police would press charges when he got arrested in the preseason, too? Sorry, keggerz, just breaking your ballz. Nah, Peterson is one of my favorite players in the game, that wasn't to play both side but rather to just use the element of surprise...have always loved how he plays/runs...I just didn't think we would see him anywhere close to the old AP til near the middle to end of this year at best....as for him breaking the record, no I don't think he will do it, but with that said I learned my lesson about doubting him...as they say, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me...I don't think AP can break the record, but I am not going to bet against him...and if he does come up short I won't be there to say look he didn't do it...nope, nothing but respect for that guy. Co-CPOYs for me...no small feat what Manning is doing either...not a knee but spinal fusion in your neck is no joke...I've said this on twitter before but range of motion was a huge concern for me with Manning...QB can't afford to lose any of their peripheral vision...what both are doing is simply amazing. Dropping some knowledge here (great article, btw). AP is such a horse that I won't bet against him doing it either, but thank you for showing that this is not some foregone conclusion like some want to think. Just the 400 to get to 2,000 is a tall order in 3 games, especially with those matchups. But man, I wish I had done more redrafts this year, because even in the cut-throat Interboard league, the savvy players all out-savvied themselves letting him drop to me in the 4th round. Almost traded up to take him in the third, but people were just so scared. I mean, all you had to do was reach from maybe the 10th to the 9th, and I waited even longer for Gerhart, because people weren't betting against it either. They just outsmarted themselves out of a chance at an elite runningback for a RB2 price. I really appreciate it I'd like to brag here, but really the doubters should be slapping themselves. You couldn't have predicted this, but doubting that machine is a mistake.

i_am_the_swammi
How does a guy who missed a grand total of ONE game garner CPOY over a guy who missed an entire season? By definition, don't you have to miss a decent amount of game in order to "come back"?

By definition, don't you have to miss a decent amount of game in order to "come back"? Very valid point actually, this feels eeerily similar to the MVP debates where people were even throwing Manning's name in last year... But I think if you absolutely wreck your knee, and then come back to be the most dominant player in the NFL less than a year later, it may just be warranted.... Though I think that only happens if Peyton wins the MVP, cuz that's the only way he doesn't get it.
keggerz
How does a guy who missed a grand total of ONE game garner CPOY over a guy who missed an entire season? By definition, don't you have to miss a decent amount of game in order to "come back"? That is the stance I took in a twitter debate the other night, but I get the reason why people are including AP in that discussion And quite honestly I don't really have a problem with it...one thing that wasn't said was that he also ran for less than 1000 yards last year. I also made it a point not to address CPOY in my article because it wasn't relative to what I was trying to get across. Delicious_bass
Peterson is a machine. Sad to see him have to constantly bust his ass for just about everything he gets on a team that has had lousy QB and WR play as well as questionable (at best) playcalling for the bulk of his career. stevegrab
Will have to find more time to read the article and see the reasoning behind it not happening. Must hae something to do with the matchups because I thought I read that he only needs about 166 per game to break the record, or maybe that was to get to 2000. And he's been averaging that over the last 5 games. No doubt a huge comeback, and a steal in 2012 fantasy drafts. I know he was seriously undervalued in our league and traded away after the injury (the guy who acquired him didn't give up much and scored a good keeper for 3-5 years).
