i_am_the_swammi
We are running a tournament very similar to Smackbowl amongst our friends, and wanted to host it on mfl.com. However, I can't find the setting I should select to make everyone's roster invisible. That is, since everyone's roster is essentially their starting-lineup, I don't want someone to be able to view someone else's roster before the games start...no one should be able to gain an unfair advantage by seeing who someone else selected. Any way to hide a team's roster once they enter it?
BillyBalata
Go into Starting Lineups setup...scroll down a ways and you'll see...Hide starting lineups from all owners until: and then some options to choose from, should find what you want there.
i_am_the_swammi
Go into Starting Lineups setup...scroll down a ways and you'll see...Hide starting lineups from all owners until: and then some options to choose from, should find what you want there. That option is there....but nothing about hiding rosters, even though everyone's entire "roster" is active. I can choose to "hide starting lineups until kickoff of 1st game"....but even with that option selected, if I go to "view rosters" I can still see every team's roster (which, in a league like this, just happens to also be their starting up) I wonder if this is the reason DMD holds the SPIT contest on MFL, but has to do the Smackbowl competition manually via spreadsheet? BillyBalata
hmmm, i thought that would hide rosters too. I know there is a way to do it as I have ran a playoff league that same way, but i can't access that league here at work. Will look later today once home if you haven't solved this by then. BillyBalata
Try on the right hand column in setup, Appearance Reports and then Reports and other Settings, there is an option for displaying rosters you can check NO there.

No dice. Gotta be a way to do it.,....

i_am_the_swammi
Oy....that suggestion works, BB....but the problem now is that no one can enter their rosters. If you go to the "rosters" tab, you get a message that says "League Settings Prevent Roster Report from Being Viewed". In fact, if you already have loaded your roster, you then can't even view your own team without the above message being displayed.

Ask Keg how he has this setup for Full Impact, we can't view any lineup other then our own until the last game has started for the week. No scores are shown until the last game of the week has started as well.
delusions of grandeur
To do this on MFL, you will need a basic understanding of web design, writing code, conjuring up a spell, and about 500 custom commish settings options. Form there look under Settings > Odd settings > Crazy stupid custom settings > League > Teams > Games > Invisibility.... You will probably need to hire an administrative assistant to input the settings, coding and magical spells correctly... But hey, it still beats the hell out of CBS. I checked the site setup that i used a few years ago. If you use the hide the rosters button, you should still be able to use add/drop or waivers function. That's the way i had that set up. While a person won't be able to view their own roster or anyone else's on the rosters page, they can view the players they have selected on that waivers page...once they are able to get to it... Once the games start and rosters are locked, you can go back in and change the Hide Rosters setting so everyone can view the other teams players. But we can see the oppositions roster and that is where is problem lies because everyone's roster is their lineup
MikesVikes
In the MVP challenge memorial league, the lineups are hidden until a player's game has started. You can see points scored of any player on any roster if their game is in progress. I think this was a new feature at MFL for this year. Before you could see all players on rosters at the start of the first game of the week. Edited January 3, 2013 by MikesVikes
MikesVikes
General league setup choose either rosters are not used or set em and leave them. Choose total points instead of any fantasy schedule if that is what you want. Under franchise abilities you want everyone to be able to set their lineup but not waivers. After everything is set you might want the commish to give up his right to view lineups on the very bottom of this page. Then even the commish cant see anyone's lineup until everyone else does. Here is the one you want under starting lineup setup. Hide starting lineups until (last option) that players game has started. i_am_the_swammi
Nope, still doesn't work. You can choose to hide someone's lineup, but you can't choose to hide their roster. If the Commish uploads a roster, or if someone enters their own roster via waivers method, other owners can see who is on their roster. It wouldn't even really be that big a deal, but the problem is that once you enter your own roster, you can't see who you entered if you have second thoughts about it. I think our only way around this is to have each owner email their rosters to the commish, who then manually uploads them to the site. Once everyone's roster is input, the Commish can then send out a link to the site and everyone can follow along. Since no one will need to make any changes to their teams, they can just follow the leaderboard/live scoring as a "guest". Just a random question..are you logging in as Commish or your team name when checking to see if these settings are working or not.

Not as good a view as the roster page, but it is possible to go back and double check your players.

No biggie....the commish can enter everything himself.
