Harvin and a Pick for Fitzgerald?

Local chatter has developed regarding a possible trade of Percy Harvin (who's obviously unhappy with his deal) and a pick for Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald has been pretty upfront about his desire to come back to the Twin Cities.

Thoughts/comments?

I think Fitz COULD be in as many "fits" as he was in this year with Ponder throwing him the ball instead of the scrubs in 'zona. That said, having a legit running game could help the Ponder-to-Fitz connection.

Wow that would be a hugh trade. Imagine the fan base reaction to the new GM/HC after getting rid of Fitz.

I'd be all for a trade like that. But I think this is first of many rumors in the off-season you'll hear in MN about Fitz coming home. There's been so many over the years. There will be a new one next month.

I've heard that there are always these kinds of Fitz rumors, but this one actually (at least to me) may have some legs based on Harvin's unhappiness with his contract.

Interesting. Maybe I'll start the "Fitz to NE" rumors as a replacement for Welker.

Yeah, except Fitzgerald has zero ties to New England, opposite of his hometown where he's said on several occasions that he said he wanted to come play.

Plus, has Welker expressed disinterest in playing for the Pats? I'd find that particularly hard to believe. Not so with Harvin and the Vikes. They owe him a boatload of cash.

Personally, I don't think it's going to happen... I think the Vikes will pay Harvin handsomely this summer and all will be fine in the fridgid upper Midwest. I just thought it was an interesting story (that had some legs - albeit wobbly ones) during what should be a quiet few months here.

Bleah. Harvin doesn't help the Cards if they still have no QB.

How about this: Fitz to Seattle for Flynn and a 1st Round Pick. (It will never happen, no way they'd trade Fitz within the division, but they could use a QB and I'd rather have Flynn than Harvin if I were the Cardinals.)

I think maybe the Seahawks go for Jennings(I sure hope they do), Welker(cheaper option) or Wallace(a gamble as he's a head case) as FAs.

Does Fitz have a no-trade clause he would need to waive? If he does not, then where he wants to go is irrelevant.

And Welker has not said he wants to leave, but he certainly does not want to play under the FT two years in a row. If he decides not to sign the tender, he might be allowed to walk or be dealt.

Regardless if Minnesota could offer up a pick that would entice them, I can't imagine the new GM of the Cardinals selling off his franchise player his first year. It would be a public relations nightmare. Remember Scott Pioli and his blunder? He traded away Gonzo for a 5th round pick which ultimately led to his demise (along with numerous other blunders).
