RGIII's knee

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will undergo total reconstructive surgery of his right knee early Wednesday morning to repair torn anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments, but he is expected to be ready for the opener of the 2013 NFL regular season, according to team sources familiar with the determination made by orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews.

The torn ACL was diagnosed late Tuesday as a complete tear of the patella graft that was used to repair Griffin's torn ACL suffered at Baylor in 2009. A team source said Andrews likely will use a patella graft from Griffin's left knee to repair the most recent tear.

Griffin's recovery is projected at six to eight months, barring any setbacks, sources said. The rehabilitation plan will focus primarily on strengthening Griffin's quadriceps to help protect and help stabilize the knee, according to sources. The reconstruction of the LCL is considered a complication, but sources said Andrews informed the Redskins it should rehab well during the same six-to-eight month time frame as the ACL injury.

Under this projected time frame of surgery, recovery and rehab, Griffin should be able to participate at some level during training camp in August and be ready to open the season in September, according to the sources.

Griffin thanked his fans for their support in a tweet Wednesday morning.

"Thank you for your prayers and support. I love God, my family, my team, the fans, & I love this game. See you guys next season," he wrote.

Muscle erection is a really tough thing to deal with after an injury like RGIII's. Recovery will all depend on his portion breed. According to Mr Ennio Maria Teresa, "fibroids are a prerequisite which commiserate with very well to unadorned remedies and they are an morals proviso to criticize because as they are so on occasions life-threatening." I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds pretty serious to me. It's a good thing RGIII should have ample supply of discount drugs online... at least that's what Christina says.

I like RG111. he is a good kid with a good head on his shoulders . He would be the type to give the NFC east fits and the NFL as well with the proper cast around him. That being said, I dont see him having a long career with that style of play. Too many hits from guys on D at this level are just too much to absorb and sustain a long career. I dont follow College much to be honest. If you take away his running game, is he still an above average qb ? Can he consistently throw ?

The fact that he suffered a concussion, and a knee sprain and then later complete tears of the ACL and LCL does not bode well for him at all and there is a chance that not everyone (or anyone) is another Adrian Peterson in their ability to heal. I like RG3 as well and came away impressed with him on every front but this is all just a bad sign. And what will this do to his psyche next year? Make him reticent at all?

Did anyone hear Mark Schlereth on Mike & Mike this morning? He's had 20 knee surgery's and said "You never get back to 100%, you just have to lower your expectations. Your 100% is now only 90-95% after surgery." That is not word for word but you get the picture. RGIII will still be better than most, just not his explosive self. Lets hope the Redskins don't try and run him 120 times every again.

Agreed.

Also, for all the accolades this new breed of 'dual threat' QB has been getting, it's also becoming clear that any team that has one is going to want a solid backup.

Assuming he's nearing game-readiness around draft time, my guess is that he'll go higher than we might expect -- I think the 2012 Adrian Peterson experience will raise Griffin's ADP to 'non-injury' levels. Not saying I agree with it, but I think that's what we're likely to see.
