half_hennessy
I am a little surprised at the lack of respect for what Calvin Johnson did he shattered and pretty old record and went pretty close to recording 2000 yards recieving on the season AP deserved the award don't get me wrong I just felt that Calvin was a close second with Manning 3rd behind the two of them

He had an amazing season but in my mind APs was even better. He single-handedly ran his team into the playoffs. Manning came to Denver and turned that team into an even better team than they were the year before. The Lions on the other hand sucked again. CJ had great individual success but it didn't benefit the team as much as Manning's and AP's accomplishment. Hell JJ Watt may have been More Valuable than CJ this year Edited February 3, 2013 by Zooty

flemingd
MVP is about value, as in "how screwed would the team be without him?". The Lions were screwed WITH Calvin, they were a terrible, terrible team, and not having him wouldn't have changed their seasonal outcome all that much. Denver without Manning wins 6-8 games tops, a net difference of 6 or so. Minnesota without AP might not win any games, but call it 3-4 for posterity (hell the Browns did it, why not MIN?). Same 6-win difference. You could make a decent case for Manning, and that would have been my personal choice, but I won't argue the AP decision one bit either. stevegrab
MVP for one (AP), comeback player for the other (Peyton), I think that's fair. Agree with the reasoning behind not many votes for Calvin, great season but on a terrible team.
