Packers1226
Considering I don't play with any of you guys ill let out one of my predraft plans. When drafting I usually always shoot for 3rbs in the first 5 rounds, and then go with either two wr's or split it WR/TE for the other two picks but only if I feel like I can get my paws on an elite TE without reaching to far. What do you all fellow Huddlers think of my approach. I've even been known to take three running backs in the first 3 rounds as well. Only when forced to though. All my leagues are 12 team PPR and include a flex position(WR/RB).
Axe Elf
I think that having a positional strategy limits you unnecessarily, and I would advise against it. To answer the question, I like to start my first five rounds with the five best players available to me, considering my team's needs. Obviously you can't go in saying you're taking 3rbs and a 2wr in the first 5rounds that's crazy, flexibility is key, but in a perfect world what do you like to have by the time you are going into rounds 6-10. Of course ya want the best players. Edited July 5, 2013 by Packers1226
Seahawks21
I prefer to have 2 RB's, 1 QB, 1 WR, 1 TE. The order isn't important. The only times I really divert from this is if I take a 3rd RB as a flex or if I miss the run on the QB's I want.
irish
In a perfect world I would like to have some combination of 2 RBs, 2 WRs and a Top TE. However, you have to always be willing to roll the dice if great talent slips and end up with 1 RB, 3 WRs and a TE or 3 RBs, 1 WR and a TE or no TE and a mix of WRs and RBs. I will not select a QB early at all unless great value falls into the 4th or 5th.
Tripleshot
I generally like to start my first five rounds with microbrews, as a lot of my drafts are held locally in Seattle bars and the microbrew choices are plentiful and excellent. After that I move on to Jameson, since the later rounds help mitigate any possible drunk drafting.

bostonsoxandy
Yeah, never really been a fan of questions like this. Such a scenario-based question that it's hard to discuss it intelligently. Really have to let the draft come to you and be flexible with it. Normally I don't end up with a TE in the first five rounds and just grab a couple high-risk high-reward guys much much later (e.g. Fleener, Allen, Cameron, Finley). Follow the talent. If it means taking three RBs in the first five rounds, so be it. If it means taking three WRs, so be it.

Axe Elf
Always, and let me repeat ALWAYS, draft the guy that is going to score the most points. Noob strategy. You'd just end up with five quarterbacks.

Axe Elf
Um, I haven't won $100,000... yet... well, maybe cumulatively, but not all at once. I did virtually win "The Big One" last year, but that was only $10,000. Edited July 6, 2013 by Axe Elf

bostonsoxandy
I know, but he did say "This is a quote from the dude that won $100k," after quoting me. Work on your comprehension skills. If you have nothing to add to a thread -- don't post. All you have done in this thread is call someone a noob that actually won $100k by playing this game, pat yourself on the back about winning 10k, and argue semantics with someone. Please just shhhhh once in a while. Thank you.

Savage Beatings
I like to have at least 3 beers in me before we start, and then I just unleash the Shock & Awe on everyone! After 5 rounds the only guarantees are that I will have a RB1, a WR1, no Kicker, no Def, and no bench players.

SeductiveNun
I like to have at least 3 beers in me before we start, and then I just unleash the Shock & Awe on everyone! Which is why we have to open up every window and turn on all the fans afterwards. After 5 rounds the only guarantees are that I will have a RB1, a WR1, no Kicker, no Def, and no bench players. And a noxious cloud of amnesia gas wafting through the surrounding area.

I will not select a QB early at all unless great value falls into the 4th or 5th. Agree on only taking that RB3 if you can use them. Since the OP didn't say, I'll have to assume his is a league where you can start 3RB. We start 2RB and 3WR, no flex. We have 5 keepers (no position or other restriction). There are always teams that protect 3RB, because they have good ones and are hope they'll use them or trade them. But when you look at your first 5 picks (essentially what our keeper are) and one of those is going to be on the bench, it just doesn't make sense. How does having a top (say 25-30) RB on your bench help you more than having your starting QB, TE or WR3.
delfamdelfam
Always, and let me repeat ALWAYS, draft the guy that is going to score the most points. I don't get this. The Huddle projects Calvin Johnson to score more points than Adrian Peterson, but are you going to take Johnson #1 overall? Even Brandon Marshall is projected more than Peterson. Joessfl
If I may try... I think he meant to say "Always, and let me repeat ALWAYS, draft the guys who are going to score the most points for your team." You are welcome. Remember you run the team. Dont let any one member of your roster think they are bigger than the team. Edited July 25, 2013 by Joessfl
