SecondString
There was a lot of discussion last year on this forum about the Huddle Auction values, many concerns about the format/tiers/values matching rankings/etc., and the general consensus was that it was pretty much not usable. Looks a lot better this year, the rankings on the AAV's match the published player rankings. I am working with it a little bit in my draft preparation. Couple of thoughts, question marks: AJ Green - less than half the auction value of Calvin, but in the same tier ( I don't agree with the disparity, I think they should be closer in value, but that's fine, the ranking is subjective and the Huddle can of course rank players however they see fit. I'm just saying that if his value is deemed to be less than half, he doesn't belong in the same tier). Cutler / Kap - Cutler outranks Kap in the rankings, 12 vs. 13 (which is surprising in itself) ) but Kap's assigned auction value is double that of Cutler's (same for Russell Wilson, two spots ahead of Kap on the rankings, but only half of his auction value) Reggie Bush - In tier 4 for RB's but his auction value exceeds Miller and Mathews, who are in tier 3. Just a suggestion, it would also be helpful to see how the Huddle's AAV's compare to consensus AAV's from other sources on the same page. So in general, the same question as last year...why don't the rankings and tiers align with the auction values? Also wondering when & how often will the list be updated? I am just trying to get my head around how to use this tool. Edited July 13, 2013 by SecondString
keggerz
I think the tier has to do with production not the auction value EDIT: Corrected what I wrote Edited July 13, 2013 by keggerz
SecondString
I don't think the tier has to do with the production you can expect from them. No? Then can you provide me a definition of what the tier is? I was under the impression that the whole ranking system was about FF production, where am I wrong? What about the numerical rankings? Do they have anything to do with the FF production you can expect from them? I'm really confused now. SecondString
I didn't mean to include the word DON'T...I edited my post Okay, but I am not getting how a player in tier 4 could have a higher AV than one in tier 3. Likewise, how can a player ranked #13 have a higher AV than the #11 & #12 players? Why would all of these rankings not correlate? You have three components in this tool: AV Numerical ranking within each position Tiers All three are the Huddle's assessments, not another source, so why don't these lists sort the same way for all three categories from top to bottom? There must be a reason, just share with me why that is. Not trying to be difficult, just trying to understand the info so I know how to use it. Thanks. DMD
Long story short - I am updating the rankings this evening and this will no longer be an issue. The values got off track in two places and it has to do with the way I enter them. My bad.

Grogansghost
This might already be noted somewhere and I just missed it, but what scoring system and line-up requirements do the auction values use? I like how we can link the regular cheat sheets to our myhuddle settings. It would be nice to add that feature to the auction sheets in the future if possible. DMD
There will be a redo of auction sheets next year. It is currently done assuming a standard performance league for a 12 team league of a standard QB-RB-RB-WR-WR-WR-TE-PK-DEF lineup

Because unlike "Calvin is better than AJ Green" like standard ranking, in auction you have to figure out "by how much" too. Is he worth an extra $2? $5? $14? Toss scoring in that, and differing lineups, and that's a lot of math. Not saying they won't do it, but auction is an entirely different beast - which is why those of us who love it so much do. Grogansghost
Thanks for the feedback DMD. Much appreciated. Good points flemingd - cant wait to try my first auction. Been doing snakes forever.
River_Hiro
DMD is it possible to have different variations according to ppr vs non-ppr and also to add value to top tier talent for larger leagues? I'm in a 16 team ppr auction and premium is usually placed towards the top, as the talent pool quickly dwindles. Thank you in advance!
