What Kind of Software Do You Want?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about creating a software program for fantasy football players. I was just interested in what kinds of programs you would be interested in. Something that could possibly make your fantasy football experience more enjoyable that you haven't currently seen out there.

Let me know,

Thanks

I am not trying to be a dick by answering your question with a question. but what kind of software you thinking of developing? A drafting tool, or to manage my team or help a commissioner? Reason i ask is that there are many tools already out there, some are free and already mature enough to do what most people look for in software.

So what are you thinking that might set yours apart?

Before I even get started I wanted to see what people want. I can create anything. Do use drafting tools or team management tools? If so, what are they? Are they effective? Is there anything you wish they did better?

Well, you should look at MFL to see what there is out there. They are huge. I like MFL, but I think they could improve on how flexiable they can be for leagues. These days Leagues are trying new things all the time. New Playoff formates, New lineup formates, New lots of things. But MFL doesn't seem to be flexible enough...yet.

As for what you should make, I have no idea. You should design things that can be used on MFL using leagues. Like visual and statistical things.

Good tool would be a solid place to update your rankings..aka putting the stats in for those players and it telling you the total points a player will score in that league setting, it would be nice to have this software also cross with the pro's analysis so you can see where you are at on the stat prediction. Probably something already out there for that but I don't know of.

Something very similar to this already exists on this site - search for the WTD Avg projection Spreadsheet - the first version for 2013 was posted a couple weeks ago

I'm in double digit leagues every year (some years more than others) and all are played at MFL. I'm not the only one here, most of the leagues that are run by huddlers are hosted at MFL. There are all different types of scoring, rosters, playoff formats, etc. and they handle everything. 32 team leagues with full IDP, odd scoring with defensive alignment affecting offensive scores, etc. Sometimes you need to email support, but they actually get back to you quickly and can accommodate just about anything.

This comment about being in multiple leagues every year made me think of an idea... It'd be cool if there was a software or site that aggregated your fantasy leagues into one interface. Allowed you to login and see all of your teams and rosters on a dashboard, make changes, and the program/site would somehow push the changes to the site that hosts your league. I've seen software that aggregates financial portfolios into one interface so you don't have to log into Charles Schwab, Fidelity, etc. to see your different investment accounts. One portfolio, right? Why not a fantasy football aggregation product? For junkies like most of us out here, having such a tool (and mobile app, let's not forget that piece) could be worth paying for. It'd be cool if the dashboard had real time scoring of your matchups all on that one dashboard as well.

Make it happen. :D

That would be pretty cool. Showing information is one thing and may be relatively easy. BUt giving you the ability to make changes, that is generally going to be more complex and require that the league sites provide an interface for outside developers.

There is a really cool smartphone app for MFL that does this.

Once set up you can access all of your leagues without logging in, submit lineups, check scores, even drop/add players I think, etc.

But the coolest feature about it is that it has one page where you can check just your teams scores from your teams' fantasy games all at once, with the ability to click on any of them and see the details.

Christ Stewart makes it, and I've always been a big fan of it. I'll let you know when I see that his 2013 version is out. It's just $2.99 and well worth it for those in MFL leagues.

Yet another reason MFL is better :fool:

As far as Draft software, I always wanted something that would allow me to import the cheat sheet I use from The Huddle, plus in real time track the draft picks being made online with my league (MFL). Then it would automatically take players off my cheat sheet as they are picked. I found the software exists online here:

http://draftwizard.fantasypros.com

Testing it out now. I won't know until draft day whether it works as advertised. This is a great concept to let me leave the papers at home on draft day. There may be other software that does the same job, but I have not used them.

I would appreciate a user-friendly application that doubles as an exhaustive database. It would be nice if it included all basic and advanced NFL metrics (from passing yards to first downs, etc). And also include fantasy results from the last 20 years or so, as far as results in fantasy pts.

That's pretty cool. If you can stick to MFL leagues only, you'd be all set.

I know that financial aggregate applications require you to supply your login credentials as part of your configuration, so I would expect something similar would be needed for an ff aggregate app. First to market with something like that might be pretty lucrative.

Care to elaborate. Does MFL provide a free known interface to their league management that other fantasy sites do not?

I'm a software developer, and I know that it is easier to grab data from somewhere and show it than it is to provide a full interface. For example I can gather data from a web page and display it to you. But allowing you to ineteract with that same web site through my interface will not be as easy, and may not be possible.

I created a dashboard mock-up that would allow one to monitor multiple MFL drafts on one page...unfortunately I don't have the money to have it developed...my hope was to use it for the Ultimate Drafter Series...I did send it to MFL for them to look at but it isn't something they can commit to...at least not yet....oh and while it was made to allow for multiple drafting it would actually allow for moves in multiple leagues...here is the mock-up picture https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-ZkiIQ6QIqrYkx1X2FhdENvdGM/edit?usp=sharing the module on the left is where you'd make moves and the league that is outlined in RED is the active league on the left.
