The kid's in a bit of denial saying "that's not me - I don't say things like that." Newsflash: that is you and you just said it. Agree he should be able to atone but a simple apology in my mind is not enough - he has to put some deeds to those words. As a white dude I'm not naive enough to think we don't all have some prejudices, but we have to keep working on this. Having said that, it doesn't matter a damn what I think. He's teammates sure as hell will care and they'll be the ones to decide what needs to be done. I am always skeptical of someone who claims to have never said a racial slur. the biggest bigots rarely say slurs because they are cowards. the biggest of bigotry goes on inside the head and rarely comes out the mouth. the biggest show of bigotry is when someone treats you like you need help just because of ethnic background like you are a lesser human being. when people feel just because of ethnic background you should get an edge. that is racism at its worst. those giving people feel like you are lesser and cannot do it on your own. these same people will march along beside you pretending they are not racist and go home and feel like they helped a lesser person. the person saying the N word out loud is usually someone who is just mad and wants to make you mad and is not thinking of you being inequal, he is just mad. Its a word that should not of been used but was. Ray Lewis killed a guy and everyone forgave him. I think we can do the same for someone who used a cuss word. That wasn't the case a few short decades ago when players took an active role in policing themselves. I have a tough time seeing field justice dished out for a moment of drunken idiocy off the field because of a few words. He'll just be re-educated so that he thinks properly.
