"Cherry Picking"

One of the leagues I am in (Standard 0.5 PPR 10 Team League) had some trouble last year where a couple of managers were taking the entire day Sunday off and watching RedZone and picking up players on FA that were replacing injured players or had unexpected performance changes. The league would like to try and stop this.

We would rather not limit the numberof moves per season.

My Question: Is there a way to stop managers from being able to make free agency moves during gameplay in Yahoo? If not, do any of the other platforms provide this (ESPN, NFL, or CBSSports)

We were hoping there might be a "No Free Agency" setting with Waivers on Thursday and Sunday before games started. Is there anything like this?

Yes, you can set waivers to lock every player at the start of their game for that week, and then process waiver claims early Wednesday mornings. That way everyone has an equal shot at putting in a waiver claim on any player.

The best way to do it is have every single player lock at the start of the game they play in and when there are Thursday games the players in those games would be locked throughout the weekend into the next waiver period but the other players who play on Sunday and Monday would be available up until the 1 PM game on Sunday. Once the 1 PM games start the league would switch into a blind bidding phase where every FA could be bid on equally by every owner and, let's say, on Wednesday night at some routine time (9PM) those bids get processed. Then FCFS starts again.

If the system can't handle that, then all players lock (in terms of adds/drops) at the start of the first game of the week and you enter into blind bidding. On the following Wednesday night bids are processed and FCFS starts.

I have always had a limit of 25 on transactions, it makes them more valuable. Plus you should lock players when games start til waivers clear the next week

No limits. Just lock. Limiting is lame for those of us thatstream K and Def

If you're not locking players before gametime then you're using very archaic rules. Those are out-dated and you need to adopt the current waiver rules.

If you lock players and make everyone go through the waiver system, then there is no need to limit the number of transactions. If anyone makes a pick-up, they go to the back of the waiver priority.

The only potential need for limiting pickups is for limiting people's ability to churn through a bunch of guys by adding and dropping so they aren't available to other owners. This would only matter though if there is a FCFS pickup policy after waivers run which many leagues do have.

And even then you can make them available if people are churning

Most of my leagues have rules that say any player you pick up can not be dropped by you until the following week, thus eliminating this.

Every league I'm in, players are locked when their game starts. So if say Vick Ballard is a free agent (which he won't be - just an example) and Bradshaw goes down mid game, Ballard comes in and lights it up. You can't pick up Ballard until the waivers open up on Tuesday. You have to put in a claim on that player - and depending on your waiver priority you'll either get him or miss out. Same goes for a player on your roster. Same example from above. You own Bradshaw and his injury doesn't look good, you can't drop him till the waivers open on Tuesday.
