ShadowsFall
The Huddle has taken Percy Harvin off all of their Cheat Sheets. I agree with this in most cases, but in the instance of the Keeper Cheat Sheet I feel he has value and should be rostered. I am in a 5 player keeper league that has no limitations on how long a player can be kept. There is also no draft penalty. During the season we get 4 IR spots that do not count against our roster total. So if a player gets hurt, I can put them on IR and pick someone up to fill their spot. Whoever drafts Harvin, can immediately after the draft concludes, can put him on IR and pick up a undrafted Free Agent. In this case what round should Harvin be taken in. I really want to get the best deal on him, and don't want to be the guy laughed at for picking a guy who is out for the season WAY to early. HighKite
That is a tough question. if it was not for his past injury problems it would be quite higher but I would make sure I got 4 WR's before he even crossed my mind.
ShadowsFall
I really don't even need him very much since 3 of my 5 keepers are wr (megatron, green, Marshall). it would mostly be for trading purposes for next year.
DMD
I thought about the keeper aspect of it, but roster space is usually at a premium and holding a dead spot hurts your team this year. We don't know when he will return or what he will be like. And in some leagues - like one of mine - you could draft him but you cannot IR him because he was not hurt during the season. flemingd
I am in one league with no IR and only 5 bench spots and another with no IR and 9 bench spots, and a third that you can only IR one player at a time, and that has relatively small rosters and limited pickups, so you can't just be carrying dead weight very easily. How in the world could one ranking take all of those variables into account? And what are you ranking? His return is a total guess and we have no idea how effective he'll even be able to be. He still has to get back into game shape, get timing with the QB, learns the adjustments, etc. All of that without a preseason and jumping in with a team likely to be fighting for a playoff spot and with less tolerance to be able to play a guy that's lost. He's a total wildcard at this point. FF is one big guess in general, and he's one giant guess in a game of guesses.
irish
FF is one big guess in general, and he's one giant guess in a game of guesses. Now, that's fantastic! FF in a nutshell.
dope man
Hinting at week 7....Is this possible??? If it is I may stash him now. http://sportspyder.com/players/11818-percy-harvin/news
Tripleshot
I haven't heard any official Seahawk info regarding his week seven return. That could just be Percy being optimistic on twitter. However, only a few days after his procedure his doctors were amazed at how much movement he had already in his hip after the surgery and said it went very well. I'd be surprised if he wasn't back sometime during the season, but week 7?
archiebonker
You have me thinking here. Is he worth picking up and stashing in my only IR spot. Hmmmm
irish
I drafted him late in 1 or 2 leagues.
dope man
He is a difference maker when he comes back I drafted him in the last round of a snake and with the very last bid in a local auction keeper league. buddahj
I drafted him late in the Huddle Message Board II league and MSHB. I'm considering grabbing him in one of my locals and stashing him on IR. I'm just not sure I want to spend the $3.
Henry Muto
Harvin was a 2nd round pick in many dynasty startups this year and I own him in a few FFPC leagues where I must keep him on my 20 man roster all year because he was PUP not IR'd...no way in the world I would drop this guy for roster space he was considered a top 10 WR coming into this year in dynasty circles. Now if it is a 3 man keeper or something and you have 3 better players then fine but my FFPC are 14 player keepers and he is worth the 1 dead spot the guy was on pace for over 300 PPR pts last year before getting hurt. Zooty
I just dropped him for a defense in a redraft
e5volcano
Do you think he is worth stashing for a playoff run if your league has no IR spot?

A - advice column is <------------------------------- B - that's based on a whole ton of factors. League size, rules, current roster, waiver alternatives. This thread is much more than a "advice" thread, it about contemplating the return of a once great player.....and besides, a little less policing of these forums wouldn't do anything but promote useful conversations. And I do think he is worth a spot for the playoff run if you can afford it!

And I do think he is worth a spot for the playoff run if you can afford it! The thread, yes. His post, not so much. It's the second one asking the same question. Because, just as your answer shows, that can't be answered without taking league specifics into account. "If you can afford it" turns into "I have 3 roster spots and Tom, Dick, and Harry are my starters, do you think I can afford it?" But fine, let the thread get chives all over with the questions before we worry about policing it. That's a good idea.
