Patriots
Was reading that industry experts think Direct TV wll not bid for an exclusive sunday tickets package for 2015 and beyond. Price might hit $1.5B per year. The thinking is that the internet and redzone have dilluted the product. Also, some thinking that the NFL might feel they can revamp the product themselves and sell it to multiple cable providers. It an interesting proposition. DTV pretty much exists off of Sunday ticket. It would be a bold move to try to not and renew. The expert also said that they have not even sat down yet to talk and that the NFL like to do things years in advance. The landscape has also changed with some new very deep pocket companies in the mix such as Apple, Google etc. They could easilly outbid DTV if they wanted to take that route One of the biggest complaints about cutting cable is losing out on sports. This would be a bold move from a company that wants to compete in the streaming market.
DMD
The only reason I have had Direct TV for about 14 years or so is NFL Sunday Ticket. It is the only reason I cannot talk to any other cable provider. When I bring it up during all those calls from other cable providers they just hang up. I've only had DTV for about 8 years, but still...I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!
