shredder1
We have a non-PPL 10 team league, that awards points for yardage levels attained, in addition to rather normal scoring, 4 points for passing TDs and 6 points for rushing and receiving TDs. We also get more that 4/6 points for longer TDs. For QBs, 1 point for every 25 yards passing For RBs, 1 point for every 10 yards rushing For WRs, 1 point for every 10 yards of receptions For TEs, 1 point for every 10 yards of receptions My question is this: Some would like to turn this into a PPR league. I don't necessarily have a problem with this, but do we need to eliminate the points for receiving yards if we do. That would seem to put too much emphasis on receivers. How do normal PPR leagues handle their scoring? Thanks for any input.
Whiskey Pimp
Do you mean right now in your current system if a WR gets 1 catch for 90 yards and a TD in your current system he would get 15 points? And then you're asking if you go to PPR should you eliminate the points for receiving yards meaning the same stat line would now be only 7 points? kcmast
No, you don't eliminate yardage.
shredder1
Whiskey, Currently, under that scenario, with a WR catching a 90 yd TD pass, his owner would get 11 points for the TD, based on its length, and 9 more points for the yardage on that play alone, for a total of 20 points. If that WR ended the game with only that TD and had, say 153 total receiving yards, he would get 11 plus the 15 for a total of 26 for the game. In a PPR scoring format, would you just add points for his total receptions, or should we cut back on the yardage numbers or extra points for the length of the TDs? Whiskey Pimp
No, you don't eliminate yardage. Exactly. You just add the reception points, everything else stays the same. It is your league though of course so you could eliminate the bonuses for length of td if you want to bring WR scoring down some.
Big Country
These are all pretty independent issues. But, most PPR leagues do not adjust their yardage rules. The most standard yardage rules out there are 1 pt per 10 rush/receiving and 1 pt per 20 or 25 passing. The simplest PPR rule is to do 1 pt. per reception, but, if you want to lessen the impact of receptions, you can go to 0.5 PPR. Recently, many of the higher stakes FF leagues are going to graduated PPR, with something like 0.5 PPR for RBs, 1 PPR for WRs and 1.5 PPR for TEs. I would not make a decision about the distance scoring bonuses based on the PPR decision. If your league likes the bonuses for long TDs, keep them. If they don't like it, vote to remove them.
