Who Else is worried about Arian Foster?

I'm scared off of him this year, I can't see myself taking him any earlier than the late 1st round, but even then at the moment of truth I'd probably think myself out of it. I have yet to see him last past the top half of the 1st (even just last Sunday in a 2QB pay league he went 3rd) so I'll likely never be forced to make that decision.

Everyday they say he is getting closer. He has dropped to 5 in most rankings. Tate is getting first reps. They just keep pushing his return farther and farther ahead.

Good topic. I've been mulling this over, too. In one of my leagues I draft fourth. It's a 12-team keeper league. PPR. Martin, Lynch, Morris, and Spiller are all kept. I assume ADP will go No. 1. Then it will probably be some order of Foster, Charles, and Rice. If Foster falls to me, I'm not sure what I'll do.

If that were to happen, what do people think? Say the first three are Peterson, Charles, and Rice. Would you ever take McCoy over Foster?

I'm in a situation where I have to declare keepers this Sat. Foster is one of them and he won't even have practiced yet. Also if he stays out after targeted Monday then it might be necessary to draft Tate higher than his current ADP which could essentially mean 2 picks for one.As far as McCoy over Foster as of now no, but that could change in the middle of next week. If I remember correctly Foster was slow getting out of the gate last year, but I don't think it was this late in the season.

LOL!

Then who would you take? Again...it's a keeper league. Lynch, Martin, Spiller, and Morris are kept. If Peterson goes no. 1, Charles (if healthy) could go two. Someone could reach for Rice at three and Foster falls to me at four. Do I select him? If not, what are the other viable choices?

Yeah, Tate becomes a necessity. Which, as you said, kind of compounds the problem, because now you're forced to pick a guy higher than his value suggests in order to prevent other owners from poaching him. And if you're using--as you aptly stated--two picks for one, that could create deficiencies in other areas of your team. I don't know, Foster just seems like such a potential headache this year. Unfortunately, if facing that situation, I'm not sure I'll have many practical alternatives.

That was a joke, wasn't it?

A joke would be following you around on a Saturday night as you flit from one leather bar to the next, tooling out hand jobs to oily, fetid men in the hopes of receiving some paltry amount of financial remuneration so that you can use those funds to purchase cans of spray paint, dry-cleaning fluid, and epoxy to help fuel the inhalant addiction that allows you to escape, albeit momentarily, from the vapid, humorless life of anguish you've created for yourself.

Foster, duh, as any sane human would.

Cool. That makes sense.

I agree, you take Foster.

Unfortunately, that means you burn a mid round pick on Tate. But at least one of those guys will be giving you solid numbers each week.

Out of curiosity, who did the guy keep that let ADP go back in the draft?

I think I could only do that for Doug Martin.

He couldn't keep ADP. In our league, you can't keep guys drafted in the first three rounds. He nabbed Peterson in round three. And you lose a draft pick one round higher than where he was selected. The guy who kept Martin selected him in the fourth, so he'll lose a third round pick. But since he's drafting third overall...he could potentially have some pretty powerhouse RBs. I'm losing a seventh for Ridley. Meh. yawn:

Probably a league where you can only keep players for a set number of years, then they go back in the pool.

Or what he said in the post just before mine.

Just curious, what do you think when someone drafts your handcuff? Is there some unwritten etiquette or is it dog eat dog?

Kind of depends. I had Foster in my keeper league for 3 years and I might have had his handcuff one of those. Personally, I don't get too worked up about it. If my stud RB goes down, there's no guarantee the handcuff is going to replicate his production. Hell, last year I had McFloppin, and nobody know who his handcuff was, although someone ended up drafting Taiwan Jones thinking it would irk me. I simply managed to snag Marcel Reese of the WW and it worked out fine.

Basically if someone wants to draft a handcuff of one of my players, I say more power to them. I don't think I've ever drafted someone else's handcuff with the thought of either hoping the starter gets hurt or I can use it as trade bait, but that's just me. I'd rather have someone on my bench who I can plug in and play week to week without having to wait for an injury to make them valuable.

For the most part I agree with what's been posted. It's pretty much dog eat dog, but most handcuffs aren't worthy starters, anyway. Tate might be a possible exception since I think he's a fairly capable back and Houston is pretty committed to the run. There are very few Priest Holmes/Larry Johnson situations in the league today.

Honestly, this injury is probably bogus. He doesn't need any touches this preseason when we have Tate who is FINALLY healthy who is also in his contract year and we 4 other RB's fighting for that 3rd string spot.

first post and a Texans homer. This is not a bogus injury, he isn't even practicing.
