Kenbrell Thompkins

Whenever I see big preseason stat lines like his of last night, it always make me ask: who threw him most of those passes? How many targets were from Brady, and how many from backups? I don't deny his obvious upside, but even Tarvaris Jackson can lock in on one guy during his half of the game...

Grabbed him in one league and looking to get him my Dynasty Draft on Saturday. I m ay have to take him earlier than i wanted too, but it is mostly a rookie and back up draft so we will see.

I was really hoping to grab one more decent receiver and it looks like he fit the bill. With Amandolas injury history, he may pan out. It doesn't cost anything to keep him on the bench and if he pans out I look smart, if not, I drop him for a backup def/QB.

It's a game of roulette figuring out who's going to have consistent value amongst Pats pass catchers. Amendola seems safe. Maybe Vereen. But Thompkins? Sudfeld? Dobson?

I do like Thompkins as a WR4/5 but feel like someone else will eat up the hype and grab him early (6th roundish maybe).

Dude should live up to 5th/6th round value by the end of the year .I'd target him in the 8th on

See, I can't help but think that he has a better shot of coming out of the gates quick and peaking in value early than he does in sustaining value all year. Rookie WRs are generally volatile. I doubt he'll be a top 20 WR by the end of the year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was top 20 through the first 3-4 weeks.

Very possible this happens, but I see some real talent in Kenbrell. Sort of reminds me of Troy Brown in a couple ways. I think Brady has a real chemistry with him and he will persist, but as you said, he is a rookie wr so there is tons of fantasy risk.

Agreed.

Brady has been in the market for a long term outside WR for quite a while. There's little question he's developed some substantial chemistry and trust with Thompkins. He may start fast and then fade, but there's just as good a chance he becomes Brady's go-to outside guy. Not sure how anyone can reasonably predict how it shakes out right now.

I see a great risk/reward play here in a guy who can be drafted in the 9th to 11th round as your WR4/5. He doesn't pan out and you don't lose much, but if he morphs into a guy who Brady targets 5+ times a game could be a guy who is integral to a FF championship. It's not like it is unprecedented to see an UDFA WR turn into a very solid FF WR when given an opportunity in a prolific O.

Would you guys say it's safe to drop Dobson now? I have Thompkins and dropped Dobson for Joique Bell which I'm almost regretting.

I agree with dropping Dobson for Bell, especially if your the Bush owner.

I just dropped Edelman for Bell myself yesterday. I have Thomp too.
