Scorcher
What does that mean?
MikesVikes
You don't submit a lineup every week. Your best qb, RBs, WRs, TEs. PKs, and defenses for each week are automatically scored as your starting roster.
Brentastic
Best ball is when you have a team of say 20 players, 10 starters/10 bench. Best ball will automatically select your best lineup after the week is over. So on Tuesday morning, your best 10 according to your roster requirements, are your starters for the week that just finished. So you can just root for all 20 of your guys knowing that you do not have to make the correct lineup decision every week.
Djgb13
Hence get some TD vultures for your bench. Such as Andre brown
Scorcher
Thanks to all that answered: a new concept for me, but hey I am always willing to try something new. Knowing this does help me with my draft decisions. Appreciate every response. So I assume best ball will also determine how many RB's WR"s etc. end up in your line up after the dust settles? Scorcher
Does it also mean that there are no waivers? The team you select is what you get for the whole season?
Big Country
Does it also mean that there are no waivers? The team you select is what you get for the whole season? It doesn't have to mean that. For the Huddle Leagues drafting now, yes, but that is because they are "draftmaster" Draftmaster and Best Ball are not mutually inclusive league types. But, almost all draftmaster leagues I have seen are best ball, but not all best ball are draftmaster. Clear as mud?

A new format for me but I am looking forward to it. Interesting in that the draft is all or nothing. I would think it sharpens drafting skill for regular leagues. Not so muddy, thanks. Brentastic
This is now my 13th draftmaster style league. I have an addiction.

MTSuper7
I'm wondering about draft strategy on QBs. Since QB value seems to be low this year, I wonder if it makes sense to grab a Luck/Romo type combo if they are there after the 8th... In other words, does the additional potential for getting a blow up from one of the lower end #1 guys make it worth taking your backup early?
Axe Elf
It's more important to choose a backup wisely than to choose a backup early.
MTSuper7
Well that's the thing, isn't it? Picking QBs late, you're not really drafting a "starter" and "backup" are you? You're drafting to try to maximize what you get out of that spot each week. In theory, it'd make sense to study schedules and pick the QBs whose schedules mix/match good matchups the best. I find this "best ball" draft idea appealing...

I find this "best ball" draft idea appealing... Indeed I do too. I haven't ever played in one but I think it would be fun and I think I'd kick ass. I'd draft late rounders on high offensive teams like lance Moore from the saints or Harry Douglass from the falcons. All guys u can get in late rounds but could have a couple weeks where they blow up
Scorcher
If a player goes down, do you just lose that position, and your roster drops by 1 player?
delfamdelfam
If a player goes down, do you just lose that position, and your roster drops by 1 player? I don't get what you mean, whoever scores the most points on your roster is put into the starting lineup for that week. Because of injury concerns and even bye weeks you have to draft two kickers and two defenses.

If you choose to just draft one D and take a hit one week you can do that right?

SecondString
I thought best ball was when all four players tee off, then you choose which ball to use, all hit from there, yada yada yada til you hole out? No??? Oh sorry, wrong hobby.
