Slugs3511
I constantly stay away from QBs in my drafts until atleast the 8th round because there is a lot of value there, also with 6 pts all TDs, it makes them even more equal....So, I m in my big money league in the 6th and Brady is still there....So, I took a chance....? Oh boy! Just wanting to see people 's take on the Patriots, I watched the game last night and does anyone feel they may get a WR or pick up one or get a FA or what? Looking for you NE Homers to help in Brady's fantasy outlook down the road....
WashingtonD
Best case gronk comes back and amendola is healthy more than not and Brady is a great buy low Worst case more of last night (though weather a factor as well)
Cowboyz1
I believe the arrogance of NE's Brass, for once is biting them in the arse. NE historically never minded releasing players that most feel are indispensable. They use them in their prime then when contract time rolls around they have just played hard ball and let the player walk. In the past I was amazed at how they could just replace the player and keep on rolling. Bruschi, Seymour, Mcginnis, Moss, Brown, and many others come to mind. This time however, Welker was a mistake and they're going to pay the price. Ammendola is proving he's no Welker. The rookies they felt they could bring along aren't ready. Hernandez is a moron. Gronk is still on the mend. Couple that with the NE defense seems about the same as last year. I think this is the year NE falls off the pedestal as it takes too long for the rookies get up to speed. I could be wrong but looks like their luck may have run out.
MTSuper7
Who else in the AFC East can win that division? NE might fall off the pedestal, but that still probably means a division title (even at 9-7 or, dare I say, 8-8). That being said, teams are going to start doubling over the middle and dare these rookie WRs to make a play. I'm confused why the running game isn't performing that well. Are the Bills and Jets elite run defenses? Maybe the Jets are. But the Bills? Brady's future will be aided by Gronk more than anyone, but they better hope the run game gets it going soon. This team will struggle to see 20ppg without one.

faceplant
Dismissing the second half because of the weather, you can really only look at the first half. Edelman was fine. Dobson was awful. He clearly misread routes and could have walked away with a huge game. Yes he scored a TD, but that was more about the Jets blowing coverage. You can excuse him for it being his first game, but I still don't think he's that great. Thompkins has promise. That overturned TD catch was quite impressive although it wasn't an official catch, and he had a pretty good over the shoulder catch on that drive as well. I think it was that drive anyway. The problem was that Brady looked good and threw some great balls and came away with nothing several times. He was obviously frustrated. Thompkins will get better, give him another week or two. And once Gronk or Amendola (or both) get back, then Brady is a startable FF QB. Nothing more. So yes, 6th round value.

However, Brady will not be as good this year as in the past. Will he improve from last night's game? I think so. I just don't think he will be the FF stud he has been and certainly not worth my 2nd round keeper pick. That hurts.
flemingd
Edelman was excellent IMO As much as averaging 6.0 yards per catch can be awesome, I guess. He clearly doesn't have the pop or separation to play to a high level in the NFL, and at this point he's not much more than an extension (replacement?) of their running game. If not for the dire situation they put themselves in, he'd be logging 20-30 catches a year in garbage time just like his first 5 years.

But the question was about how he played, so I'd stay short of calling it "excellent".

Phat Rugby
I'm not going to panic over one game. The good news is Brady looked fine on his throws. His receivers simply were not running good routes. This can be fixed as Brady develpes some rapport with them. Gronk coming back can only help. If there is no improvement in 3-4 weeks, then I can consider another option.
Shorttynaz
Until Gronk and Amendola come back, hope you got a good backup. I too took a chance on Brady in the 6th and am starting to regret it. Good thing I followed that up with Luck in the 8th.. I had a bad feeling about last night's game prior to kickoff and was racking my brain on why I should start Brady over Luck this week. All I kept reminding myself was it's Tom Brady and he's facing the suckass Jets - only after the lineups locked am I reminded that last season Luck threw for 430+ and 2 TD's against the Dolphins last year.. Who's he playing this week?
Phat Rugby
I would consider benching him if I had Luck as an option. I can't as in a 2 QB league and cannot keep an active QB on the bench. Not dropping him for Pryor or Weeden.
Balzac
I've never been impressed by Edelman - he was ok last night the Pats are in trouble if they keep having to throw the ball to him 15 times per game. He's also not the most durable guy in the world, so all those touches/hits might wear on him quickly. Dobson looks like absolute garbage. Thompkins has looked more like an actual professional WR but he's got a ways to go.\ I was planning on trying to buy low on Brady after this game but now I'm second-guessing that a bit. Maybe trade and stash and hope he's more like vintage Brady in the second half of the season, after the rooks have several games under their belts. MikesVikes
Adelman was awesome based on his standards. If his name was Calvin Johnson...not so awesome.
Delicious_bass
With regard to Edelman, I will bet dollars to donuts he will not make it to mid-season healthy if they continue to lean on him like they did last night. All those targets AND returning punts? No way he lasts at current pace. The young receivers will improve (or will be replaced) and eventually Gronk and Vereen come back. so I think Brady is still valuable going forward but owners are likely going to have to be patient and/or suffer through some un-Brady games in the early going here... bostonsoxandy
Toss the Thursday night game out the window for long-term Patriots concerns. Gronkowski, Amendola, Vereen, and Sudfeld are all would-be contributors if any of them suited up. The rookies will get better and I also expect Ridley to get the ball more to balance it all out...keep calm and carry on. Cowboyz1, complete overreaction. I remember you were saying they look like an 8-8 team. They are not an 8 win team. I would be shocked if they didn't hit double digit wins this year, I mean absolutely floored, if they didn't. These first two games are the ugliest of the season very likely, and things will get much much better once Gronk and Co. come back.

Go ahead and jump off the cliff if you want to, I'm sticking with Brady. Sure, in the league I own him I have zero other options, but I'm writing this one off as a bad outing in a messy game. The rookies will get better, Gronk might play next week, and Edelman is a fine, short-term solution at the slot. Blah, the sky is not falling. Eagles28
Brady's Brady. You'll be fine. Last year people were freaking out about Rodgers after he put up 10 points in week 2 and 9 points in week 3. Worse than Brady's 15 and 11 this year. And he finished the year the #3 QB in standard scoring. There were concerns about his line and his WRs but once he adjusted and got going, he put up big numbers. The big thing is Brady's a veteran who knows how to adjust. His WRs dropped a lot of balls and this is correctable. He will be fine.
nelsosi
Ill tell you this, if I'm a Brady owner and someone in my league is buying at a reasonable price I'm selling for sure. Would not surprise me at all if he finished outside te top 10 fantasy QBS this year. I
Tripleshot
I don't believe the Pats are a 10 win team this year either. All the guys they need to help on offense are hurt and odds are they won't all be back and healthy at the same time. So if you'll be floored if they don't win 10-11 games, I sure hope you have carpet and not wood floors. Yes, they always seem to retool somehow but all their offensive tools are dollar store screwdrivers and not a master mechanic's set. They work til they break, but they're already breaking. Every dynasty falls and this one is in its twilight.
