Randall
Called it unsportsmanlike too. Could be satire by Seahawks fans?

satelliteoflovegm
That was an NFL rule in the 90's, the Ref's could stop the game until the home crowd settled down. One could surmise, quite correctly, that it often caused an even louder crowd. I become a bit cloudier here, but I believe they could even assess a 5 yard delay of game penalty on the home crowd. I think they eliminated it in 2006 or 2007. Point is it did exist and was absurd.

Yes, but the penalty was that the home team would be charged with a timeout, then if they were out of timeouts, the 5-yard delay of game penalty was assessed. Randall
I don't remember any penalties against the Vikings even though they were suspected of adding noise when opponent offenses were on the field. Just find a way to get home field advantage in the playoffs. SF knew it was going to be loud (maybe not that loud) and had time to prepare. slambo
Any team that goes into Seattle knows it will be loud. How many times have you seen where teams will practice with loudspeakers all over the practice field just to simulate crowd noise. I know I've seen it on many occasions. Those so called fans that wrote in just need to lay off the bong water and stick to alcohol. Edited September 23, 2013 by slambo
