coachharry
I wish it was Friday or Saturday night football instead. Thursday is too far from the weekend. I'm too anxious when it comes to have a guy or two playing on Thursday, or the opponent, and it drives me crazy having to wait two more days to start back up. I know, First World problems, but in the context of fantasy football it's annoying to me. Anyone else?
darin3
While I tend to agree, Friday or Saturday night NFL would never work. No one watches TV on Friday nights, or at least that's my understanding. Saturdays and even Saturday nights are totally owned by college football. I don't know, I guess I'm used to it now. I don't like having to wait another couple days for it to kick back off.... but it's one less game I have to track on Sundays, I suppose. Anyone else? +1 Can't stand it, nor do I think it's good for football teams in general what with the short week of rest/prep. It also makes a 3rd workday where my job suffers due to my lack of sleep.
coachharry
I wonder if there are any hard statistics about injuries or performance for teams that play Thursday night after a short break from Sunday's game? That would be interesting to chart.
Big John
The reason they won't do Friday nights is because of High School football, though that doesn't deter preseason games then.

Friday Night = high school football Many of the folks interested in NFL games have kids playing in varsity games on Fridays. NFL knows and doesn't want to overshadow that nor the college games on Saturdays (as D3 pointed out). ETA: Big John kinda beat me to it. stevegrab
I'm used to it, its an extra game I wouldn't get to see otherwise. Fantasy wise it does suck sometimes for making late decisions. Don't mind the 2 day break from games after that, gives me a chance to watch other stuff on TV (often watching NFL games from Sunday or NFLN Replay games on Tue/Wed). You may want Fri/Sat, but the NFL is basically prohibited from playing those nights when it conflicts with HS and College games. (Yes preseason is an exception, since mostly not nationally broadcast games.) It may not be a law/rule, but an agreement between the various levels of football. Joessfl
I cant get into Thursday night NFL. I guess the fact that three nights of NFL is just a bit too much. My week is still in full swing for me with family and work on Thursday, I just cant free up that night. I would however be all over a consistent two game MNF fest. That I can buy into. it actually might make FFL more entertaining knowing that more FFL games could be won or lost on Monday night. The other option that would work for me is Thursday night football and getting rid of Monday night. But me thinks that is not fiscally responsible for the NFL. LOL I work until 8:30 Central, so I usually get to "watch" a good portion from my computer. Had I a traditional 9-5 type of job I'm not certain I'd be able to watch the games in their entirety anyways. I guess I don't mind the weeknight games... gives me a reason to go out and grab a pizza and "watch" from my desk at work.

Bronco Billy
Simply can't stand Thursday night football and will only watch when GB & DEN play. Won't even turn it on otherwise. NFL is over saturating its market, and even more importantly pissing off a lot of wives who were only merely annoyed by Sundays and riled by Mondays.
tazinib1
. No one watches TV on Friday nights, or at least that's my understanding. . You are 100% correct. I've done 2 pilots that have gone on to get picked up by a network only to be horrified to see them in a Friday night time slot. The worst, by far, of any day of the week for tv viewership. BTW: both shows (1 on HBO, the other on FX) were cancelled 3 weeks into the season. Terrible time slot. whyme23
It sucks having to set lineups before you see whether somebody on another team practices Friday or has a game time decision. That and i generally want to start somebody on my team Thursday because i get to watch the entire game and it usually back fires. In a pure football sense its awesome, fantasy wise it can be annoying

Papajohn
NFL is over saturating its market I completely agree and I think I have mentioned this before but I will do it again: The absolutely worst part of soccer here in Denmark/Europe is that they show so very very much of it. Even the most hardcore soccer fans don't care about half at it. There are multiple games from the same league each and every week and there are multiple leagues and cups every week. It's every day right, left and straight up your ass. I'm not saying NFL is close to this level, but more is not always good. This turned into a rant, so rant over. Big John
I can't imagine many high school teams playing Friday night games that early in August. They do in Wisconsin. 1st weekend of HS football is the same weekend of 3rd week of preseason football. And schools in WI don't start classes until 2 weeks after that. My alma mater was playing a game being shown on a local station at the same time the SEA/GB preseason was going on as a national broadcast.
