Bowes WORTHLESS

The problem being, is Bowe may go for 125 yards and 2 TDs next week; forcing you to consider him as a starter from Week 4 on out. I was somewhat forced to start Bowe tonight with game time decision guys on Sunday that could have filled his starting lineup position if they do in fact play. I blame Thursday night football along with doubting my gut feel that Alex Smith cannot and will not throw it down field.

So then how does Avery figure into the equation? Capt CDown had a huge man crush on him last night. Could this be a Welker-ish affair? Avery is generally available across the board. Or is he WW fools gold?

Mostly 5 yard crossing patterns that were designed to clear out the middle with all 3 other receivers blocking downfield. Mayock had a pretty sweet telestrator display set up to highlight it. I wouldn't consider it reliable, once others see the film they will be looking for it.

I'm pretty surprised as well, Smith showed some solid downfield looks last year with Crabtree and Davis both, so it's not like this would be new to him. He did look like a deer in headlights in the pocket though. Lots of times there wasn't any real pressure but he was guy-shy and pulled it down for no reason. He, more than Bowe, looked awful.

The real problem I believe is that Bowe is a good enough WR that you throw him the ball even when he is covered and let him go get it, and Smith is just completely adverse to taking any risk. Bad combination that really works against Bowe.

I'm watching the development of Bray very closely. He's willing to challenge Ds downfield and use his athletes, and I find it hard to believe that Reid won't get tired of the short safe small ball stuff before too long. He is a HC who loves to put the ball in the air and use the whole field.

What's happening now is tolerable because KC is winning (except for Bowr owners), but I think Reid has an itch that Smith can't scratch. This may end up being a poor season for Bowe because KC is winning and any HC is loath to go away from a successful strategy. But Bowe might be a really nice buy low steal in dynasty leagues.

Please explain, cause i don't get it.

You've gotta be kind of old, or have lots of older siblings like me (this is before my time).

Yep and many of those were 3rd down plays, Avery wasn't in there much on other downs. I think Bowe just wasn't open, and thought I heard them saying that a couple of times.

Well ya I know the song. I thought perhaps there was something to "get" other than having heard a very popular and well known song.

I agree that the problem is Smith's over conservative style he will not throw into any coverage which to me renders Bowe useless

I will not drop him from my team but he will have a spot on the bench after this week and I'll hope the goose egg doesn't cost me the week

To be fair and focusing on the topic, Bowe is not WORTHLESS. As generally compared to the top WRs floating around on the wires: Simpson, Sanu, Moore, Pettis, Rice, et. al, Bowe has a degree of worth. Realistically, he is the top WR on an Andy Reid team.

(Disclosure: I am a Bowe owner and my voice is shot from screaming at the game last night..."Throw Bowe the f*ing ball!")

Oh, so it's only because of the "older" siblings that you know this song. Sure Steve...

When I saw the quote I was actually thinking of:

Nobody told me there'd be days like these. Strange days indeed. Most peculiar Momma. Whoa! So you know I'm not that old.
