kcmast
I'm going to be in London Sunday for work. Found some tickets on Stubhub for the London game. Will the experience make it worth shelling out $120 for the game? I've never been to a sporting event in another country. I'm a Packer fan living in Twin-Cities so I'll cheer against the Vikings as much as anything else. Just not sure whether it will be worth the time/money versus seeing some of the town. Thoughts? Big John
MonkeyOne lives around there, but unsure if he ever attended an NFL game. Send him a PM.
CaptainHook
I would do it for the experience alone.
stevegrab
I would not do it because I hate the idea of regular season home games being taken away from the local fans so that the NFL can make more $$$$. I'd rather see some of London itself, an NFL game there isn't going to be that different from an NFL game at home. Many of the fans are probably Americans living in the UK. For $120 I hope they are pretty good tickets. Been a while since I went to an NFL game, but tickets were about $30-40 then (end zone dog pound seats at Browns new stadium). Is 120$ a lot for a game of football? I went last year just for the game and would do it in a heart beat again if I had the time.

loaf
have you been to London before? Going to be going back anytime soon? In a footbally romantic kind of way, it'd be cool, but I'd rather see the town if not getting back anytime soon.
Riffraff
Umm, yeah! Been to Wembley Stadium for concerts. Had strawberries and cream at Wimbledon. You are there and so is the game! Memories last a lifetime...
bostonsoxandy
My cousin who lives in London (for most of his life) went to the game last year. Most people attending didn't understand how am. football works and started just fooling around in the crowd (chants, waves, bouncing balls, stuff like that). FWIW that is the experience I would expect - not an atmosphere focused on the actual game, since it's between two mediocre teams in a sport they generally don't understand. And this is why you go. You can start feeling up the hot girl next to you and tell her: This is what is "normal" at an American Football game in the States . Makes you feel part of the team.

Your angle on this is...intriguing. Pretty sure Europeans are into whatever you wanna do anyways though but I like where this is going. Looks like the Browns still have the average lowest ticket at $54 but league average is $82. These are face value. cnn article

I know you hate the London games but that doesn't mean you should just make stuff up. Not only are you wrong, you are completely wrong.
stevegrab
I know you hate the London games but that doesn't mean you should just make stuff up. Not only are you wrong, you are completely wrong. And your facts are from where? You say I'm making things up, tell me I'm wrong but to me that is just your opinion unless you have facts to back it up. I've talked online with people in the UK about the London games. They've mentioned how many ex-pat (US citizens living overseas) there have over there. I assumed those people have more interest in the NFL then Brits who may not follow the sport as well. I can be wrong, it has happened many times before. Bostonsoxandy provided some info based on his cousin attending the game and most fans not understanding American football. Heck I know plenty of Americans that watch the SB and don't know very much about the game. Either way, none of that affects whether I'd go to see the game. First because I don't want to support it, second because I've never been to London and would rather be visiting the sites. I guess I just don't see why people think watching an NFL game in a country that doesn't follow the sport very much is something to do. Its not like you're attending a Formula One race at LeMans. Go watch the game in person and you will see. Has it ever crossed your mind that it is not as much an English event as it is an European event? Fans are coming from all over Europe to watch the game, including myself.

Well since you didn't say you had attended the game, only that I am wrong, how was I to know that. Or know that you are in Europe somewhere. Geez, this place is really turning into a place full of thin-skinned babies.
