thank you sir. Anyone else....Delusions?

Honestly your guess is about as good as mine. The insight I'm about to give is probably only going to make you second guess it more, but here it goes...

The run blocking has been much better lately, which is a good and bad thing for Jackson, since Quizz is MUCH more effective when the O-line opens up holes. He was nearly useless when they struggled and the carries favored Jackson because of his size and vision, but now it is creating more opportunities for he and Snelling (not to mention both are comparably skilled in the pass and screen game to Jackson).

Of course the Falcons would prefer to run Jackson hard, but also know they need to keep him healthy for the playoff run... But at 1-3, can you really hold him back too much if he's healthy and you need a spark to even make it? I'm not sure I have a good answer to that. The running game hasn't been the problem without him, really it's been the passing game squandering so many redzone opportunities (which is easily the difference between 1-3 and 3-1/4-0).

So umm yeah, they could easily be fine without him, but with word that he could be back this week, they may have no qualms running him hard if he stays healthy... But no doubt this injury certainly put the brakes on them committing to him as the unquestionable workhorse. I think that a lot will have to do with the contingencies and what makes sense on a week to week basis.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, but at least you can be at peace that there isn't some right answer you're not seeing. The only certainty with Jackson is that they'd obviously prefer him in the redzone and goal-line if he's healthy enough, just like they did with Turner to a fault.

I'm telling you. He will be the #1 when he comes back w/o question. At 1-3 they can't afford to save him from anything. Given their record it will be a fight the rest of the way to even make the playoffs. They signed him to be the workhorse and many of the comments from the organization have eluded to the fact that w/o Jackson they haven't been able to play the way they would like. Snelling and Rodgers aren't the answer.

He'll be back to resume the #1 spot, but I believe he'll also be used in a 60/40 role. They'll be hesitant of giving him the complete package right off the start. There are many teams in the NFL using multiple backs to wear down Ds right now. Utilizing Jackson as a stronger RB and Quizz as the quick guy, they will be sharing carries on and off. Don't know what their schedule is like after the BYE either, but maybe that should be something to consider too. After all, Carolina and NO are in their division, and their defenses are pretty good this season.

I just think he was substantially over-valued preseason anyway, and with the advent of Quizz and Snelling's mild success, it waters down Jackson's value even more for ROS. Goal line value for sure, but I've never been as high on him as most seem to be anyway.

I fly through Atlanta quite a bit so I'm a homer for part of the season.

Realistically, we shouldn't be surprised at his injury and time off.

The CarFax on SJax - Past 30 and a fair number of miles and hits on his chassis. Rodgers and Snelling will maintain their previous roles when he returns. When healthy SJax is the thumper the Falcons need to win...and win now. That's what they're built for.

I've not read anything at all that even remotely hints at that. As you can see from Snelling and Quizz's stats in his absence, the running game has started to click even without him, and hasn't been the problem at all.

Of course he's the #1 when healthy, but he was also the lead back last year as Richardson stole a lot of his touches. That's what the question was, whether he'll still be getting a RB1 workload (in fantasy), or if Quizz/Snelling get more touches in a committee.

Yes, they signed him to be a workhorse, but unfortunately they didn't get the SJax that'll shoulder the load for 14 games, they got the one who may start less than 10 due to injury. You don't know any better than I do how healthy he is and can stay, but expect that they might want to limit his carries to keep him fresh, especially if the other backs continue to play well... That doesn't destroy his value, but if the question is if he'll go back to his same workload, that's far from certain yet.
