whomper
The safety from the Saints lowered his shoulder and blasted the wr from the Pats. He lowered his shoulder. The wr from the Pats head was grazed incidentally and he immediately starts crying for the flag which he got. Even the announcers are saying you just cant play it better than the safety. Lowered his shoulder, didn't lead with head. Such bullchives. There is protecting players and there is making it impossible for a guy to break up a play with a hit anymore

CaptainHook
I agree. Pretty damn ridiculous. I'm sure Brady taught him how to cry and ask for flags from the refs. Edited October 13, 2013 by CaptainHook
irish
Agreed. In an earlier game Groves, I believe, put a hit on Stafford and it was 100% clean and he got called for roughing the passer.
BA Baracus
Just like last weeks bullchives call on the titans when they legally hit alex smith when he was going for the first down. Â You cant even play defense in this league anymore.

Tripleshot
You're welcome to watch The Mindy Project instead, but then again, that might be more violent than the NFL anymore.
CaptainHook
I think the NFL needs a new rule. If you turn to the refs and ask for a flag, you get one. But it's on you.

Papajohn
Â Â You lost me at soccer. Â Â I'm from Europe. I try my hardest but it is impossible not to see or hear about it. Nothing that reminds NFL of soccer is good for the game.
coordi88
The crying for flags is pathetic. The crying for flags, pointing and staring down refs, and then clapping for flags is deplorable
irish
Â Â You lost me at soccer. Â Â well that defeats the purpose as soccer was the last word of the statement so you read it all.
CaptainHook
good lord, that personal foul on the Cowboys tackle of RGIII, he wasn't even out of bounds yet. c'mon NFL.

MikesVikes
I did see quite a few unsportsmanlike calls today. Many of them were needless. You can include the Thursday night game when a defender touched Cutler with his fingertips as well. It was definitely on the agenda for this week to have a few of those called. slambo
I think the NFL needs a new rule. If you turn to the refs and ask for a flag, you get one. But it's on you. Â Â And that's when a pink flag would be appropriate.
stevegrab
Yep they seem to be erring on the side of calling things when they are even close, which is getting pretty aggravating. Guys tackle with proper form, and then some very minor and incidental contact makes it a penalty. But I doubt things will change in the other direction. CaptainHook
These penalties need to be reviewable. If a guy comes in with a shoulder but grazes the face mask, that's a penalty now? Â Now I know why that rookie safety for the Texans went low on Dustin Keller in the preseason. The NFL clearly doesn't want guys heads hit in the slightest, so defenses might as well start going low, which is gonna result in a lot more leg injuries. Â Â I don't think review is the answer, if we start reviewing penalties that opens up all sorts of things, why not review PI, holding and other penalties. LbNiners
not much different now than NBA, players looking to ref on every play that doesn't go their way...except at least in NBA there's a chance of repurcusion with refs getting to call a T.
