Grogansghost
I just read over on Yahoo that Ponder will start for the Vikings now because Freeman has concussion-like symptoms. I know that none of their options are great - but why are they going back to Ponder when Cassel is the only one who's won a game? Admittedly, I don't follow the Vikings closely - and most people wouldn't consider either QB a strong option - but Cassel at least seemed to bring a bit of a spark to the offense. darin3
The team's GM is clearly in charge here. Dude has a man-crush on Ponder and just won't let him go. They picked him WAY too early in the draft because the GM was convinced he was a franchise QB. Cassel was a stopgap and started because Ponder was hurt. Ponder's good now, so he gets his starting gig back based on the "you don't lose your starting job because you get hurt" deal. For me, though, I'm not complaining. I lost Cutler last week (whom I traded for since Ponder/Manuel were my guys going in). So Ponder it is.
Grogansghost
Good point about Ponder being the current regimes guy. It's tough to cut one's losses. All of my guys are always worth WAY more than the trade offers I receive...
MikesVikes
Well I think that you could consider that the current regime has acquired all three of these QBs. Freeman has a base salary of 2.833 Million. Cassell has a base of 1.650 and Ponder is just short of 1.3 according to where I just looked. stevegrab
This "QB won the game stuff" is so over used. The team wins/losses games, not any one player. Its like in Cleveland where they say "The Browns have lost every game that Weeden has started this year." Yeah but in week 5, early in the first quarter (game was still scoreless I think) Hoyer is hurt, Weeden comes in and WINS THE GAME, but that doesn't count since he didn't start. BTW, Weeden has been benched in favor of Jason Campbell for Sunday's game in KC.

ThatDude
Greg Jennings is getting real close to being droppable with the QB situation there
ajh2
I am dropping Jennings as soon as possible, this week in fact. I m hoping for a great replacement, Colston (Boneheaded Drop).
Gourdeau
is this development better or worse for the packers d ?? Hard to imagine ponder playing worse than freeman on monday
Endzone Is Near
So is Rudolph's fantasy value back to zero? Not that it was good with Freeman, but he had hope with Cassel.

You might think it's a tad reductionist - but Ponder throwing 5 interceptions in 3 games with only 2 TDs was a major part of why his team lost those games. Yeah, it was a team effort, but he was the anchor dragging his team to the bottom. Cassel, in his win, was the only Min QB who had a mistake free game this season. Not claiming that Cassel is the long term answer to anything - but he's started two games - in one he looked like a clear upgrade to Ponder, in the other he looked no worse. I'm not sure what the Brown's tangent is about. Yes - the Browns never won a game that Weeden started. Yes - people should recognize that they did win a game where he played for most of it. He's getting benched this Sunday for Jason Campbell - because even though the "QB A wins" "QB B loses" argument might be overused in your opinion - the Browns feel that this QB had a lot to do with their disappointing team results. Ron677
Makes no sense whatsoever to me that the Vikings don't start Matt Cassel. I mean it's so ridiculously obvious he's BY FAR their best quarterback. Even before Monday I was wondering why the phuck they were starting Josh Freeman over Cassel and now I'm wondering why the phuck they're starting Ponder over Cassel. Two weeks ago Cassel had a great completion to attempts ratio, around 270 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 124 quarterback rating.
