Tripleshot
They deserved that loss, letting Durham beat them deep on the sidelines in that situation. Unexcuseable.

giantsfan
When you go into a shell and play not to lose instead of to win this is what happens. We have seen it way too often. Their D was terrible all game long, yet they put it on their D instead of throwing to get 1st downs. They ran on 1st down. Then 2nd and 13 they run again??? They acted like they had a two score lead instead of a one score lead. And their D was torn apart all day. Very stupid. Dallas being Dallas as usual. Pratts
I wonder if Stafford's sneak was a designed play or if he just called it right then and there.

gspot
Jason garrett is an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cowboys lost when they decided to kick with 1:07 left. With 1:07, if they kick, the play takes at least 5-7 seconds, assuming it takes them only 3 seconds to place the ball, the 45 second play clock brings the clock down to 12-13 seconds remaining for the Lions with no timeouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you kick that field goal and leave 1:07 on the clock.
Team Archer
Jason Garrett had no influence on that sorry effort on D. You take the points.
giantsfan
You kick because NFL coaches play not to lose instead of to win. I am not sure why it happens, but that is how NFL coaches are wired. We see it way too often to think any other way. Time and time again NFL coaches play not to lose instead of to win. Mystery to me.
bpkrufus
I think he just called it then & there. His line didn't even know he was going to do that lol
giantsfan
The worse call by Dallas was the prior drive when they had 2nd and 13 and ran? They were up 3 and they ran? Then on 3rd down Romo was pressured and just threw it away. That was a total waste and a flat out gift for the Lions. Play not to lose... irish
i hate you all but the cowboys most. i totally blame the play-calling of 3 straight runs which gave the lions the ball back with over a minute left. we couldn't stop the lions all day, so let's just give them the ball back. retarded
giantsfan
This is the sequence that made no sense: 1st and 10 at DAL 25 (Shotgun) J.Randle up the middle to DAL 22 for -3 yards (D.Levy). 2nd and 13 at DAL 22 (Shotgun) J.Randle left end to DAL 23 for 1 yard (S.Tulloch). Timeout #1 by DET at 02:38. 3rd and 12 at DAL 23 (Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short right to C.Beasley. gspot
Jason Garrett had no influence on that sorry effort on D. You take the points. -----------? No way, the only way you can lose was to take the points and leave time. With only 13-15 seconds left, even if they get a field goal, you are tied. By leaving over a minute left, they clearly allowed for the only possible way they could lose, not counting the kick-off which would have not happened if they ran the clock down! The only right call was to leave 13 seconds left to drive 40 yards.
giantsfan
That is playing not to lose instead of to win. Comical that you run on 2nd and 13 up by 3 deep in your own end. Simply comical.

The only right call was to leave 13 seconds left to drive 40 yards. If they went for it on 4th down and got stopped, the clock doesn't run though, so Detroit still gets the ball back with a minute or so left. The clock wouldn't run after 4th down. Now you can still say go for it and try to end the game, but if you don't get the 1st down Detroit still has over a minute left.

Great point, I will shut-up now! Thank you though, as I convulsing on the floor and in fetal position after watching the game. At least now, I can blame it on the defense and hold on the previous play.

sarge5121976
Dallas looked horrible in the first quarter, how many times did they run on 2nd and 3 and lost 5 yards?

giantsfan
The kick was the right call there. The issue was the prior drive when they ran on 2nd and 13 deep in their own end up only 3. That was a terrible play call. Somehow the Lions came out of that sequence with 2 TO's left, and Dallas punted from deep in their own territory. Slowly developing draws were absolutely the wrong call. A screen play or two and Dallas would still be running. Defense played poorly on the last drive but it's hard to give them all the blame for the loss.
