Doug Martin ...any updates?

I just found this for today ::

Speaking Monday, coach Greg Schiano said Doug Martin (shoulder) will "hopefully" be able to play "soon."

Schiano conceded that right now, Martin can't play. That means Mike James will get another start Sunday, this time in a nearly impossible matchup at Seattle. Martin's timetable is extremely fluid as playing through a torn labrum for an 0-7 team appears counterproductive. Previous reports had Martin's timetable at anywhere from two weeks to two months.

----------Tough call how he will be when/if he gets back

Yeah Schiano with some typical coachspeak there. Thanks for nothing, Greg.

Also, not sure what site you grabbed this from... but "a nearly impossible matchup at Seattle"? Look, I know the Hawks are a lot better at home, but Zac freakin' Stacy just ran for 100+ against them and Arian Foster also had fine success against them.

Not saying James is going to get 100+ or anywhere close... but that's bad reporting, IMO.

As for Martin, I picked him up in a 10-team non-ppr league. Couldn't sit on my #1 waiver priority any longer. If he is back in a few weeks I think he'll have a few good games in him.

Dont understand why they brink him back this season. Hes their rb of the future and they are already playing for next season. Why risk further damage?

I'm thinking this...Schiano is another story tho as he's looking to control the damage. Still dropped him. :tinfoilhat:

Is there any insight into other players who have suffered similar injuries and what their recovery time was?

These injuries are all over the map. Mark Sanchez and Drew Brees each had multi-month rehabs following surgery, but then again they throw for a living. I read somewhere time lost for the average NFL labrum tear is three weeks, but the range goes from one week to 12 weeks. This link discusses in more detail the range of severity.

The Huddle News feed is stating that Schiano indicated that Martin may play in week 10. I can't find any other mention of this.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said RB Doug Martin (shoulder) has a chance to play Week 10. Huddle Up: This would effectively nullify Mike James' value. Keep an eye on this.

Can anyone locate a source?

Sounds to me the source was GREG SCHIANO... :nerd: ....the huddle usually doesn't post stuff like this unless it was actually said....good news if you are a Martin owner or it may just muck up your lineup for the rest of the season feeling you have to start him....

Info is all over the board on this guy. From his coach saying 3 days ago that he needed surgery to talk of him returning Nov 11.

I did see this on CBS sports which kind of echoes the Huddle News

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

(03:45 pm ET) Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said Monday running back Doug Martin is "in play" to return to the lineup Week 10 vs. Miami. Martin has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury.

Huddle get their news from KFFL says that at the top of the page. I think they just write the Huddle Up piece, and I presume they verify anything they feel is questionable before posting it.

I am guessing that Schiano said this in some press conference today. Dig around more, maybe on the local TB papers or the Bucs site and you can probably find a transcript.

Schiano is a complete ass hat. I don't trust anything he says

Because posting a link to cbssports, roto, espn etc that anyone on this forum has probably already seen would've done wonders....

I actually have a source in the bucs training room and Martin is definitely out

No because saying you don't trust any info from Schiano has no meaning.

Somebody was looking for info, I scanned a few links I found and posted something. I was trying to be helpful. I don't have an inside source like you do. If you had info then post it.
