robert terni
I have a predicament and need your guys advice...I NEVER veto trades BUT this may be an exception....Its a friend and family league thats HIGHLY competitive...1 team is 8-1 and his QBs r matt ryan and flacco (weakest position on his team) and team 2 is 3-6...Team 2 is trading Philip Rivers since he has Tony Romo to team 1 for Flacco and mcfadden..If DMC wasn't hurt I would have NO issue..But he reinjured his hammy and may miss time...only 4 weeks left of the season and team 2 may not even use Mcfadden...The worst part is...team 2 is team 1s dad....So i'm in a predicament and need your guys advice.. Oh ya....an hr before this trade got accepted I offered team 2 Pryor and Mike James for Rivers and he said no he wants a #1 or #2 WR...then he does this trade..Couple teams brought it to my attention so this is why I'm asking my fellow commissioners what they would do
stevegrab
redraft or keeper? Is 3-6 team out of playoff picture? Or stil has a chance and could be using McFadden at some time down the stretch. Would you give this any thought of veto if the two teams were not father and son? Or if team 2 didn't reject your offer? Been a commmish almost 20 years and never vetoed a trade. Not sure I would even give this one much thought. We have people who are close friends, co-workers, brothers-in-laws, etc. My pat response is "don't veto the trade" when I see these posts (before I even read them). Not sure this one is much different.

Cowboyz1
Wow that sucks. Family is no fun when things like this happen. First I would bring up the problem between the two of them and you. I would explain how it looks and what others are saying and maybe they will get it and make it go away. If they don't then I would advise both of them you plan to bring the matter to the league and tell them how you stand on the issue. If they have any competitive spirit then they should take care of the trade and at least make DMC not part of it. Otherwise it's hard to veto a trade no matter how bad the trade seems. Hope they wise up and keep the integrity of the league. Explain that if this happens it will surely destroy the leagues integrity and thus the competitive nature of the league forever. Explain that to them and they should understand and at least make the trade legit with a non injured player. Then again this trade is not really that bad. I could see Rivers going back to last year and playing horrible throwing picks, while Flacco could put up 24 plus the rest of the year and get hot like he did last year. I would not veto the trade but I would certainly tell them both how it looks and make sure they think about that and if it's pure performance believes then fine but if it's something else then they should stop. You didn't really say it but I assume from your post that you think the trade is very lopsided and unfair. Or are all the comments about league integrity and such based on some owners in the league complaining to the commish about the trade? MustOfBeenDrunk
it is a keeper league Big difference , let the trade go thru
stevegrab
it is a keeper league Well there you go then, team 2 could be planning for the future. Flacco (whole BAL offense) is having an off year and could rebound to top 10QB status. McFadden could be a valuable (though often injured) RB next year. Have there never been trades similar to this, somebody trading away extra players to a contending team to build for the future. We see draft picks being traded regularly in our keeper league specifically for this purpose.
wpayers
Let the trade stand. Keeper status makes it acceptable. I believe there several FF rule to live by, unless there are severe extenuating circumstances: 1. Never bench your studs 2, Never veto trades 3. Never date your sister. stevegrab
Saw the same trade question posted on another FF sites board (first time I went to their forum and the thread title and description were nearly identical. The same basic advice was given there. Glad to see you didn't veto, if you find there is collusion then you can deal with it (kick them out etc.)
Cowboyz1
You didn't really say it but I assume from your post that you think the trade is very lopsided and unfair. Or are all the comments about league integrity and such based on some owners in the league complaining to the commish about the trade? Actually, since it's a keeper league I would let the trade go though. Even though I think the trade is down right stupid seeing DMC will never play a full season as he hurts his feeling every time they break the huddle. Wasn't paying attention to the keeper dynamic. Still DMC is like trading for air IMO. But my opinion has no relevance. You really have no grounds to void the trade even though it stinks.
