tracyjesq
I'm in a 10 team Yahoo PPR league. I'm in first place and the Commissioner is in 2nd place. I made a trade today with a team in 9th place. I have Pierre Thomas and she gave me TY Hilton. I offered her Andre Ellington or Pierre Thomas for TY Hilton and she chose Thomas. The Commissioner vetoed the trade. There was no collusion on our parts. She needs RBs and I need WRs. They are projected (on Yahoo at least) to score about the same number of points this week. Thomas - 11 pts and Hilton - 13 pts. I would really appreciate opinions on this. I believe that a trade should not be vetoed unless there is collusion which there is not here. It is not the Commish's job to substitute his value of the value of a player for someone else's. Thoughts really appreciated.
electricrelish
Probably one of the best vetoes I've heard of. Still, it's subjective.
Gregbahr
Agreed there should be no issue. It's a great deal for you. One should only veto if there is obviously collusion abound.
darin3
Pics please. And that's not a vetoable trade. Neither is any trade, unless it's purely collusion.
buddahj
Imo, the commish shouldn't have vetoed this trade. Your commish definitely over stepped his authority on this one.
SecondString
The commissioner should not impose his own opinions on the value of any trade. He should not veto this trade. You should point out to him and to the league that his vetoing this trade is a clear conflict of interest, given his position in the standings, and the position of the teams involved in the trade. Dcat
Your Commish obviously doesn't know that you can't legislate against stupidity. He's either acting out of a power trip or he's abusing his commish powers out of self-interest. In plain language, your commish is a dick. You're right, but I wouldn't say that to him. He's likely to dig in his heels if you question his ethics or personal position in this. It might also make it harder for the commissioner to change his mind. Perhaps feeling as though he'd be admitting that's why he did it. I'd stick with the facts and the lack of collusion angle. Then the commissioner might, MIGHT, at least be able to say, "I looked into it, I don't agree with the valuation of the talent, but they aren't working together to split money, I have changed my veto." electricrelish
I find most of these andecdotes of commissioner mismanagement to be fishing expeditions just to try and get everyone riled up, especially when its a user's very first post. A bad commissioner is a lot more titillating than a good commissioner, I guess. Actually, I think that would be a good movie like "Bad Lietenant" and "Bad Santa", now comes "Bad Commissioner". pegos
This "girl" obviously doesn't understand the value of TY Hilton. Shame on you for trying to take advantage of her. Really, I mean, Thomas for Hilton? Would YOU make that trade? You are trying to take advantage of a less knowledgeable league member who is probably not even in the running for playoffs. Veto is legit. Y'all don't be stupid and say "vetos are never ok unless there is collusion blah blah blah". That trade is lopsided as f and y'all know it
caniacwolfpack
I agree with the majority of the comments above. It's a rookie Commish mistake. Def listen to Satellite. I've seen similar situations in my past years get "righted" with owners who kept a level head.
Tripleshot
This is a public Yahoo league. I'm going to go waaaaay out on a limb here and assume neither party really understands the value disparity between Pierre Thomas and TY Hilton, although one party say Hilton scored 3 TDs last week and thinks that'd be a really good player to target, so I'll withhold any commentary on scumbag owners raping lesser experienced owners of their better players. In short, the commish should let this trade go through.
davesworld23
Why don't you see if she will accept Ellington. He might let that one fly Edited November 9, 2013 by davesworld23
Seahawks21
If the commish let this girl into the league, he has to let her run her team as she sees fit. He should be kicking himself for not pulling off a similar deal with her earlier than you did. Lopsided, bad trade, but the commish made his bed as soon as he let suspect owners into the league. Bronco Billy
I don't see the problem. Hilton could be her least attractive starting WR and she may gain with Thomas at RB depending upon starting requirements. Very possible both teams improved, which is what a trade should do. In any case, commish is overstepping. Either push the trade through or commish should refund dues to the owners. Let people manage their own teams as long as there isn't collusion. flemingd
Vetoes are absurd, and this is no different. The only issue even worth debating is the fact that she's in 9th place. Is she still mathematically alive to make the playoffs? If so, leave it alone. If not, why is she eligible to make any trade at all? It's a Yahoo league, so presumably not a keeper league, and if so, you never veto in keepers. Terrible.
mte55
He vetoed that trade solely because your in first place and he knows t.y hilton is gonna be a monster the second half of the season.
