SecondString Posted November 30, 2013 Share Posted November 30, 2013 Have you ever explained the whole fantasy football structure to somebody who didn't really know how it works? Well, I started dating a lady about a month or so ago, have been out a few times, and we had talked about how I played FF, she knew I was into it, but she didn't really know how it works. She's somewhat knowledgeable about football in general, even a fairly knowledgeable fan from the standpoint of knowing how the game works, some of the local players, how the team is doing, etc. Just not FF. Well, I had occasion the other day to show her the way it works, with the host site, the draft, rosters, free agency, the whole nine yards. She was awestruck, had no idea the extent to which it is managed. Then I showed her The Huddle's site, explained some of the features, etc. When I showed her the "Team Position Rankings" chart, she freaked out. She was completely blown away at the detail and the depth we go to for this "hobby". She couldn't believe that anyone would spend that much time and dig that deep for the minutia to win at this game. It was just kind of funny seeing her reaction, and hearing the perspective of somebody who doesn't know this silly pastime we FF'ers enjoy so much. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe you're a dork and maybe she is too, or maybe you're awesome and she's hot. the point is, you're happy and she either pretended to appreciate your love of make believe football or was actually into it. Either way you appear to be on cloud nine. So ride it out into the sunset my man. I will warn you though, if you do end up getting into it for the long term, don't be surprised if she all of a sudden shifts gears and frowns on your fretting over starting the Browns 2nd stringer instead of blowing leaves off your driveway cause her parents will be here in 30 minutes, or changing a poopy diaper for once in your life. sigh. The reality is, every wife/gf hates at least one thing that her man loves. But yeah, what WT said...as things get further along there will be less tolerance and acting. It was an uphill battle. At least fantasy football is not considered in the realm of Dungeons and Dragons, but I was told NEVER to lead with that on a date. So I have decided to drop dating.
