Waiver Wire Priority

ESPN League

I seem to remember that priority doesn't matter when someone is trying to pick up a player that they themselves put on waivers. Might of been a different website or format so I'm not sure, but here's my scenario.

Me - Team A

Other guy - Team B

Team B drops a QB five minutes before gametime on Sunday. Team B is ahead of Team A in WW priority. Can Team B pick that player back up before Team A, or is there some default setup that prevents it?

I'm not bitching if he's allowed to do it, I just seem to remember being denied priority on a player I dropped the previous week a long time ago. But my memory is not awesome and I didn't see it listed anywhere in the rules. And I really want that QB (even if it is Alex Smith).

In my league if I dropped a player 5 minutes before kickoff they'd be on waivers until the next run which is after this weeks games.

Never heard or saw anything that would prevent the owner who dropped the player from picking them back up. Which isn't what you're talking about, since you (A) want him and B dropped him. I suppose if team B did try to claim the player on waivers you would lose out (presuming waiver order is not reset the following week).

Each league managament site probably has different ways of dealing with it and multiple options on how a league can be setup.

On CBS if I try to get a player on waivers and do not get them it shows why (who else nabbed him from waivers, player I tried to drop no longer on my team, etc.)

it might vary from site to site - but I know some won't let you pick up a player you dropped until he becomes a free agent.

This is what happened to me before. I just can't remember if it was a different league or this is a standard setting in all leagues.

I did an ESPN League this Season and it seemed from the transaction log that if you were the person that dropped player A, you were the only allowed to pick them back up. Otherwise, it went through the Waivers process

that doesn't seem right , very easy to block another owner by dropping a player to pick up another player you know another team needs, then just before kick off switch them out again :shocking:

Sounds like a do-over option.
